Large First Edition Print 'Description De L'egypt'

About the Item

Wonderful illustrations from Egyptian tombs obtained after the late 18th century French expedition to Egypt under Napoleon Bonaparte. After Napoleon conquered Egypt in the early 1800's he sent teams of artists down to Egypt to record everything there from the flora, fauna, local costume, architecture, and excavated antiquities. Papyrus, Hieroglyphes, Inscriptions et Medailles. A.Vol.V. Manuscrit sur Papyrus. Presented in bespoke hand-painted and lacquered reeded frame.
