About the Item

Set of Three Antique Botanical Lithographs – Cordyline, African Lily & Triplet Lily (1897) A vibrant trio of original 1897 botanical lithographs from Favourite Flowers of Garden and Greenhouse by Edward Step. This set includes: 1. Cordyline Terminalis (Plate 273) – An elegant tropical foliage plant with striking green and red variegated leaves. 2. African Lily (Agapanthus Umbellatus, Plate 274) – A cluster of rich purple blossoms, beloved for their architectural form. 3. Triplet Lily (Brodiaea \[Triteleia] Uniflora, Plate 275) – A delicate wildflower with slender white petals and graceful stems. Published in London in 1897, these chromolithographs showcase the fine detail and vivid color typical of late 19th-century botanical illustration. They are sold together as a set of three, unframed, offering a harmonious display of contrasting foliage and blossoms. Condition: Very good. Strong impressions with bright, well-preserved colors. Minimal age toning to the paper and only slight edge wear, consistent with age. No folds, tears, or losses. Visible plate marks present, underscoring authenticity. Sold without the frame. Framing tips: These three plates would look elegant when mounted in a light cream or ivory mat to highlight the botanical detail. For a modern presentation, consider slim black or dark green frames to draw out the vibrant foliage tones. For a more classic setting, gold or walnut wood frames will emphasize the antique charm. Displayed together in a horizontal row, they make a striking botanical wall feature. Technique: Chromolithograph Maker: Edward Step, London, 1897
