About the Item

A Flemish rustic tapestry from the 19th century, envisioning a noblewoman seated at center holding a plate of food, with another woman standing to her right with an empty bird cage, and a man seated to her left feeding a bird. This tranquil scene takes place in a verdant setting, with trees to the right and in the middle distance, and with a cottage to the left, and further cottages in the rear distance. Enclosed within a trompe l’oeil frame border, interspersed with various flowerheads. Wool with silk inlay. Measures: 7’10” H x 6’7” W Hanging: The tapestry comes ready for hanging, with linen backing and a strip of hook and loop tape at the top end, which can be connected to the opposite side of the supplied hook and loop tape, which could be tacked to your wall. For those who prefer the use of a tapestry rod, we can add the appropriate size loops to accommodate your needs. We now have a large selection of antique tapestry rods available as well, which we can provide detail upon request.
