Evelyn Ackerman ERA Signed Mid-Century Modern Woven Floral Tapestry Wall Hanging

About the Item

A fantastic work by famed Mid-Century Modern designer Evelyn Ackerman. Bright and intensely colorful with an elegant design. Evelyn, along with her husband Jerome, began her career in design primarily in ceramics in the early 1950s. In the late 1950s, the Ackermans put their ceramics aside to expand their art forms and run their design company ERA Studio. One of their focuses was woven art wall hangings/ tapestries and rugs that Evelyn designed as part of their ERA line. The Ackerman's works have been exhibited in various galleries and museums including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. They are also recipients of the Henry Award from the Museum of California Design (MOCAD), Los Angeles for their contributions to California design. This handwoven/hooked piece is signed by Evelyn with her traditional "E A" initials on the lower front and studio label on verso. The tapestry was hand-made in Osaka, Japan. Evelyn's tapestries and rugs are becoming quite scarce and rare, especially in this condition. Would be a wonderful addition to any collectors of the Ackerman's work or an eye-catching stand-alone work in any setting, Mid-Century Modern or otherwise. Dimensions: 18" high, 18" wide, .25" deep.
