Handwoven, Plant-dyed Framed Fine Tapestry Artwork - Teals Colour Study
About the Item
This tactile piece of hand-woven textile art is one of a collection of one-off plant-dyed pieces designed and produced by British Weaver Pamela Print.
This piece is dyed by hand using natural and repurposed yarns and techniques such as Ikat and dip-dyeing. Plant dyes such as weld & fustic are over-dyed with indigo to achieve various shades of teal with highlights of green.
Handwoven on a dobby loom in Pamela's studio using a complex double cloth weaving technique and a combination of weave structures, including a 3D honeycomb, this unique framed artwork draws inspiration from the ethos and aesthetic of Indian Kantha & Japanese Boro textiles.
One of a kind. Two similar designs - ‘Greens Colour Study’ and ‘Yelliows Colour Study’ are available to purchase. Each of these pieces can be purchased and displayed individually or as a triptych.
A bespoke option is available in colours / size of the client's choice and can be woven using hand-dyed plant dyes. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Pamela Print
Pamela Print is a British hand-weaver and textile artist specializing in luxury sustainable textiles for the contemporary home and interior space.
Her collection of handwoven interior accessories and artworks draw inspiration from the Art Deco and Bauhaus movements, and play with varying block proportions of scale, texture and colour. Each piece is designed, then meticulously handwoven on a traditional dobby loom, by Pamela in her studio, using a variety of double cloth and extra weft techniques. Collection pieces are made to order, and can also be customized in terms of size and colour. We also work with a small micro weaving mill in Bristol to produce a very limited number of throws. Sustainability is central to Pamela's ethos, and every step of the development and production process is always carefully considered. Highly sustainable, renewable and biodegradable pure wool is sourced locally from the British Isles. Animal welfare is also at the forefront, insisting on a supply chain that is kind to everyone it touches.
Pamela, a Central St Martins alumna, worked for fourteen years as a woven textile designer for some of fashion’s most well-known brands in London and Belgium before setting up her practice in 2017.
