Japonese Pair of Painted and Lacquered Wood Panels, Mid-19th Century
About the Item
Pair of Japanese paintings done on wood panel, probably dating from the middle of the 19th century (1850-1860).
One represents a landscape with a temple; in the foreground, a tree in slight relief (stucco), in a natural setting.
The other depicts a village in a similar mountainous landscape with a waterfall. Here too the tree in the foreground is made with a slight relief. The two contours forming the frames are lacquered black.
