This Bulgari Vintage Lapis Lazuli Diamond Texas Bracelet, made in Italy in the 20th century, circa 1975, is fashioned as an ID bracelet — a piece of jewelry that speaks for you. And this one speaks volumes. With a bold heart shape around Texas, for example. The 8.8 inch long (22.4 cm) bracelet is crafted in 18K yellow gold with a flat and dazzling curb link chain closed with a push clasp and attached on either side to a custom-shaped gold plaque. The curve at the top of the gold mirrors the curve in an inlaid lapis lazuli heart, measuring 3.07 x 0.78 inches (7.8 x 2.0 cm) which contains a diamond in the shape of the state of Texas. Dotted on the upper right is a star-shaped diamond for its nickname, “The Lone Star State.” From 1835 to 1836, Texas fought to gain independence from Mexico, and the resulting victory meant a new flag for the newly independent Republic of Texas and the lone star, clearly labeled, "Texas" made its first appearance. Texas joined the Union on December 29, 1845, as the 28th state. Although no longer citizens of a freestanding republic, Texans still pride themselves on their rugged individualism and independent spirit. The first ID bracelets were worn by American servicemen during World War II as part of their uniform. The bracelets started out as bent metal bands or heavy chains with a metal plate and were worn as jewelry throughout the 1940s.
