About the Item
I'm delighted to offer this lovely antique Victorian brooch/pin that would also be fantastic converted into a statement ring or a striking pendant. (please message me if you would like to discuss a custom conversion)
A rose cut diamond star in silver is set to the center of a foiled green glass plaque of particularly beautiful color and glow. Eighteen lustrous pearls surround the gold bezel-set plaque. The pin can be worn either horizontally or vertically; the old pin stem remains but the original "c" style clasp has been replaced with an early rollover style clasp that operates nicely.
Seven original, sparkly rustic old rose cut diamonds create the charming star.
The glowing green of the foiled glass plaque is hard to photograph, as it changes when the piece is moved in the light. It has an ethereal feeling to it - it makes me think of the Northern Lights. The glass shows only light wear.
With a warm cream to light champagne color, the pearls have very nice nacre with blush pink and silvery overtones. They are in overall very good condition with some dirt present. (the whole piece could use a bit of cleaning, but I have left it as found as many of my clients prefer that.)
I've tested the gold to be between 14K and 18K, with the pin stem testing more like 10K to perhaps 12K gold.
Measuring approximately 1 x 11/16 of an inch (26 x 18 mm), the piece would make a wonderful large statement ring or a striking pendant. On my scale, the finished weight is 5.83 grams.
