Art Nouveau Petite Gold Flower Brooch Pin with Old Cut Diamond & Pearl
About the Item
Offered is a beautiful, dainty and petite Art Nouveau period gold flower brooch pin in lovely original condition.
Finely made in 14K yellow gold, the piece retains most of its original bloomed finish with the characteristic matte surface so popular at the time. At its center rests a lustrous creamy pearl, and a tiny but fiery old mine cut diamond sparkles like a spot of dew on one petal.
The small size of this pretty pin makes it quite versatile. It measures approximately 7/8 of an inch in diameter (21.6 mm) and has a dainty weight of 2.35 grams on my scale.
I estimate the bezel set old cut diamond to be approximately .03 carats and it remains in good condition with no damages. The pearl has a button shape and measures approximately 3 mm in diameter; it, too, is in great original condition and has lovely pink undertones when viewed with magnification.
The original locking clasp and pin stem remain on the back and are in good working order. The only condition issue to note is that there is slight wear to the high karat bloomed finish on the reverse, so one can see some of the rosier gold peeking through in places. It's a delightful little period piece ready to be enjoyed.
