Antique Flying Owl Brooch Pin with Diamond & Pearls

I'm delighted to offer this very fine quality Art Nouveau gold Flying Owl Brooch Pin, that would also be amazing worn as a pendant necklace (I’ve included two photos of the Owl threaded through the clasp of an antique gold chain – which is not included – to give you an idea of how great it would be as a pendant.) Crafted of gold testing 14K to 18K (with a lower karat gold pin stem), the Owl features lustrous seed pearls, ruby cabochon eyes and rose cut diamonds. Beautifully made, the Owl is in flight, with his wings outstretched and his eyes glowing. Quite substantial, the Owl brooch pin has a weight of 8.70 grams on my scale. It has a lovely dimensional design and so much character. From wing tip to wing tip the owl is approximately 1 and 11/16 and from top of head to tip of tail he is a little over 3/4 of an inch. (43 x 20.5 mm) I count 97 pearls, which vary in size based on where they are set; the largest pearls adorn the owl's body, with graduated pearls decorating each wing and the tail. Of creamy white color with a silvery/blush undertone, the pearls remain in very good condition overall. I see a little expected wear and a few natural imperfections under magnification, with one pearl that has a scratch or possibly an old crack. They work beautifully together and were obviously chosen and set with care. There are four twinkly old rose cut diamonds set along the Owl's brow, each measuring approximately 1.2 - 1 mm in size, all of very fine quality with good color and clarity. Two ruby cabochons are set as glowing eyes, each approximately 1 mm in diameter. On the reverse of the brooch is an old style "c" clasp, with a gently curving pin stem. No hallmarks are present, but there are some tiny numbers inscribed on the inside edge of the hinge of the pin: "4193." Glorious worn on a sweater, jacket, blouse or coat, I also think this Owl would be stunning worn on a chain as a pendant.

Condition:

Wear consistent with age and use. One pearl has a scratch or possibly a crack, seen with magnification. The other pearls show only light wear and a few natural imperfections.
