David Webb Black Enameled Frog Brooch In 18Kt Yellow Gold With Emeralds

A frog brooch designed by David Webb (1925-1975). An exceptional and iconic vintage frog brooch, created in New York city back in the 1970 at the jewelry atelier of David Webb. This statement brooch was carefully crafted in three dimensions in solid rich yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. The entire body is embellished with shiny perfect black enamel. The eyes are mounted with two natural earth mined Colombian Emeralds. The frog is fitted at the reverse with hinged double pins bars and a trombone security lock. Emeralds: Mounted in bezel settings, with 2 oval cabochons cut of natural Colombian vivid green emeralds, 0.80 carats. Birthstone: Emeralds for the month of May. Weight: 47.30 grams (30.35 Dwt.). Measurements: 46 mm by 32 mm by 22 mm (1.82 x 0.87 x 0.27 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the designer's maker mark, the mark for the assay of the gold and signed, "©WEBB 18KT". David Webb He was an American jeweler. On July 28, 1948, he founded David Webb, the company, which opened at 2 West 46th Street. Among his clients were Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Barbara Streisand and Beyoncé have also worn his jewelry. Born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1925, Webb was a self-taught designer whose work included dragon bracelets, Maltese cross brooches and animal motifs. In 1964, The Duke of Windsor purchased a bracelet for his wife. Diana Vreeland, a noted columnist and editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, was often seen with a David Webb black-and-white enamel zebra bangle. An enameled brooch designed by Peter Lindeman (1930-2024). This is a gorgeous modernist brooch, created in New York City by the artist and goldsmith Peter Lindeman, back in the 1970. The beautiful brooch was carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with polished finish and embellished with applications of green and blue glass enamels.The brooch is mounted with seventeen gorgeous white colorless diamonds and is fitted at the reverse with a hinged pin bar with a mechanical twist lock. This brooch may be adjusted to wear as a pendant. Country: New York City, United States. Artist: Peter Lindeman. Period: Modernist, 1970. Weight: 28.65 Grams, (18.36 Dwt,). Diamonds: Mounted in four-prongs settings, with 17 well matched round brilliant cut diamonds, with a total weight of about 1.17 carats, white colorless F, VS clarity. Measures: 41 mm by 41 mm, (1.62 x 1.62). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark associated to Peter Lindeman, the mark for the assay and warranty of the .750/.999 gold and signed as follows, "©PL 18KT". Peter Lindeman He was born in Berlin. Lindeman grew up in Montevideo, Uruguay, apprenticing with a fine European firm. In 1947, at the age of 17, he headed to New York, where he worked for several high-end jewelers. After selling his designs to some of the most renowned businesses in the fine jewelry industry, Peter Lindeman set out to make a name for himself. Between crafting some truly innovative designs and developing new methods for reaching customers, both skill and hard work led to acclaim for his jewelry. His workshop supplied pieces to retailers such as Tiffany & Co., Shreve, Crump & Lowe, and Bailey Banks & Biddle.
