Victorian 18kt Gold Snake Necklace with Garnet and Amethyst Cabochons
About the Item
A sentimental jewel featuring a symbolic serpent motif and a hairwork locket.
Victorian necklace in 18 karat yellow gold, composed of a finely detailed snake chain terminating in an entwined serpent head clasp. The textured snake is set with a garnet cabochon, flanked by small amethyst cabochon eyes. A drop-shaped heart locket is suspended below, set with an oval amethyst cabochon framed by ornate repoussé scrollwork. The locket opens at the reverse to reveal a glazed compartment containing a plaited lock of hair — a poignant Victorian sentimental gesture.
