About the Item

Victorian 19th century Festoon drop Necklace with Turquoises. A magnificent and exceptional piece of jewelry, most probably British created during the mid Victorian era (1840-1901), back in the 1870. This delicate cabochons drop festoon necklace was carefully crafted with a yellow gold combination of 18, 16 and 14 carats, with a very thin layer of silver, as usual for the settings of the diamonds. Composed by a thin chain and a crab lock. Mounted, with 39 graduated cabochons cuts (rounds and ovals) of natural Persian bright blue Turquoises with a total weight of 94.8 carats approximate. Accented with a gradation of 22 Rose cut diamonds, with a combined weight of 1.85 carats. Has a total weight of 23.7 Grams and a length of 15 Inches (38 Cm) can be enlarged or shortened. The drop measure of the center piece is 52 mm (2.04 Inches). The Victorian, era is one of the most influenced and influential periods of antique jewelry. This period is defined by the British monarch, in this case, Alexandrina Victoria, the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, as well as the Empress of India, years 1837-1901. There are 3 sub-periods within this era. First, the early, Romantic period, which is soaked in traditions, natural motifs in gold and silver, clear stones only being worn during the day and colored gems by night. The second being the Grand or mourning period, which coincides with the death of Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert the consort, who died in December of 1861. This period included large, dark, somber, dramatic jewelry, with a lot of black onyx, jet wood, amethyst, garnet and gold. This lasted until 1880's, when the aesthetic period of jewelry began. The Late or third stage of the Victorian period, use more complex and feminine motifs, returning to the natural, including many floral and celestial designs, with more decadent gemstones, lasting until the turn of the century. The Victorian era of jewelry includes many movements found in other countries, including revivals such as the Etruscan the Roman and the Egyptian as well as the Art Nouveau, Liberty style and Arts and Crafts design movements which lead into the beginning of the twentieth century. Note: The turquoises mounted in this piece are gemstone quality, perfectly matched in cut, color and calibrated in size with very smooth surfaces and with no stains. Note: Festoon, is a design motif of a garland or string of flowers, leaves or ribbons. A festoon is a type of necklace that contains several drapes or swags of beads, chains, metal extensions, or other parts as the core elements of the design. Was very popular in the 18th and 19th century. It is in perfect condition with all the original gemstones from the stated period and don't show any previous repairs INVENTORY REF: N0000EONM/.5697

Gucci Milano Horsebit Cocktail Ring In 18Kt Yellow Gold with 26.65 Cts Malachite
By Gucci
Located in Miami, FL
A cocktail ring with malachite designed by Gucci. This large horse-bit cocktail ring is one of the most Iconic and popular models created by the fashion and jewelry house of Gucci, in the late 20th century. This beautiful ring has been crafted in Milano Italy in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. The setting is designed in the shape of the Maison horse bits patterns that are holding on top a natural green malachite. Malachite This gemstone is sedimentary and is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. This opaque, green-banded mineral crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system, and most often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses, in fractures and deep, underground spaces, where the water table and hydrothermal fluids provide the means for chemical precipitation. Individual crystals are rare, but occur as slender to acicular prisms. Pseudomorphs after more tabular or blocky azurite crystals also occur. Its formation is based on layers of the same material that when compressed creates the variety of layers and the range of greenish colors. Each layer is individual and if inspected with a microscope you can observe its formation. Sometimes fissures are observed in these joints but this does not mean that there is a fracture or crack that would unstabilize the gem. Malachite: Mounted on top, with 1 rectangle cabochon cut (15.5 x 20.3 x 11.5 mm) of a natural Hungarian green...
