About the Item
An authentic Ancient Greek silver tetradrachm from the later Ptolemaic Dynasty in Egypt is set in this ancient-inspired handmade 18K setting with four 1.8 mm VS1 diamonds as accents designed by Steven Battelle This Hellenistic (Greek) Kingdom in Egypt was founded in 305 BC by Ptolemy I Soter, a companion of Alexander the Great, after Alexander's death. It lasted for almost 3 centuries until the death of Cleopatra VII in 30 BC. The coin displays the Ptolemaic eagle standing on a thunderbolt, which was the symbol chosen by Ptolemy I. It was minted during the realm of Ptolemy IX Soter (113-112 BC), the one of the last pharaohs in the dynasty. The bust of Ptolemy I is on the reverse. This pendant comes with a laminated coin certificate of authenticity. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The 18K handmade hammered chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 18”, 20”, and 24” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant.

After a chance trip to SouthEast Asia in 1987, Steven Battelle became fascinated with the jewelry and iconology from the ancient cultures of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Asia. Eventually forming a partnership with a dedicated group of Balinese village goldsmiths using painstaking handmade techniques, they together create unique designs that incorporate those timeless and classic motifs. He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
