Ancient Greek 4th Century BC Corinth Pegasus Coin Diamonds 22K Gold Pendant

About the Item

An authentic ancient Greek silver "stater" coin displaying Pegasus flying left rests in a Steven Battelle designed hammered medallic high karat gold setting ornamented with flat wire spirals and five 1.8 mm VS1 diamonds. This particular coin was minted between 375-300 BC on the island of Corinth along the western coast of Greece. Pegasus was a winged horse who was caught by the Greek hero Bellerophon with the help of Athena and Poseidon. Pegasus allowed Bellerophon to ride him in order to defeat the monstrous Chimera, which led to many other exploits. Bellerophon later fell from the winged horse's back while trying to reach Mount Olympus. After that failed attempt, Zeus transformed Pegasus into the constellation seen in the night sky. In popular culture, Pegasus is often associated with magic and wonder, and is seen as a symbol of the power of the imagination. The opposite side of this coin displays the goddess Athena in a Corinthian helmet. This pendant comes with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The 18K handmade hammered chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 18”, 20”, and 22” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. Classic, beautiful, historic!
