Ancient Greek 4th Century BC Corinthian Pegasus Coin Diamonds 22K Gold Pendant

About the Item
An authentic Corinthian silver "Stater" coin from 375-300 BC is centered within a Steven Battelle designed hammered medallic high karat gold setting ornamented with flat wire spirals and five 1.8 mm VS1 diamonds. Pegasus was a winged horse who was caught by the Greek hero Bellerophon with the help of Athena and Poseidon. Pegasus allowed Bellerophon to ride him in order to defeat the monstrous Chimera, which led to many other exploits. Bellerophon later fell from the winged horse's back while trying to reach Mount Olympus. After that failed attempt, Zeus transformed Pegasus into the constellation seen in the night sky. The opposite side of this coin features Athena in a Corinthian helmet. This pendant comes with a laminated coin certificate of authenticity. The handmade hammered 18K chain, or 22K woven chain, shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally.

Steven Battelle
After a chance trip to SouthEast Asia in 1987, Steven Battelle became fascinated with the jewelry and iconology from the ancient cultures of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Asia. Eventually forming a partnership with a dedicated group of Balinese village goldsmiths using painstaking handmade techniques, they together create unique designs that incorporate those timeless and classic motifs. He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
