THIS IS A SUPERB SIGNED FRANZ BERGMANN ANTIQUE AUSTRIAN VIENNA BRONZE OF A CAT NURSE DELIVERING A NEWBORN KITTEN TO THE WAITING MOTHER IN HER HOSPITAL BED. THE BRONZE DATES TO THE LATE 19TH TO EARLY 20TH CENTURY AND IS A MASTERPIECE OF VIENNA BRONZE ARTISTRY. THE BRONZE IS FROM ONE OF THE FINEST COLLECTIONS OF AUSTRIAN VIENNA BRONZES ASSEMBLED. The Bergmann Cat nurse and kitten and mother vignette is one of the finest cold painted Austrian Bronzes you will find by the most esteemed artist of the genre. The details are magnificent with the lovely ribbon in the nurse's hair, the flower on the side table, the chart at the end of the bed, the delightful bed clothes and most importantly, the faces of the mother, baby and nurse - all full of the joy and wonder of the moment! The cat scene is a wonderful size: 2.5 inches tall and 3 inches long and 3 inches wide. The superb quality of the bronze is evidenced by the markings of the piece. It is signed on the base with the Bergmann B in the urn as well as with Austria. Collectors of Vienna Bronzes and animal sculptures treasure pieces made by the master artisan Franz Bergmann above all others.
