Indulge in a superb museum quality Victorian - Belle Epoque hand carved Citrine Intaglio Ring depicting an image of the god Hermes or Mercury and set in a beautiful and elegant filigree setting in 18 Karat White Gold. The ring dates to circa 1850-1880. It is very rare to find carved Citrine rings as carving the hard stone requires superb artisans. This citrine is a stunningly beautiful color. The ring features the most beautifully hand carved intaglio of the Greek God Hermes, known as Mercury to the Romans, with his fabulous face and winged helmet. His face is an exquisite rendition in the hard stone of the handsome god with his curly hair, elegant face, and winged helmet. The setting is particularly beautiful with the filigree open work raised gallery in 18 Karat White Gold.
Antique hand carved intaglio rings are all the rage today and to find them in Citrine and of Hermes or Mercury is extremely rare. The jewels are the inspiration for the work of Elizabeth Locke and here you have the opportunity to acquire the true antique gem.

I love the way the artist has created his nude form in the cameo. The carving is very deep 3-dimensional design attesting to the extremely fine quality of the work. The setting is beautiful with the repousse adornment of the band in the Etruscan Revival style.
