About the Item

A fine antique bar back bottle or decanter. In blown glass with silver overlay. Having a silver mounted rim and etched body. Decorated to the body with two silver birds (cockerels or game cocks) with one bird victoriously standing on the neck of the other. The etched decoration includes vertical cut lines throughout the bottle, a ring of frosted leaves, cherries around the shoulder of the bottle, and a ring of frosted circles to the neck. Bar back bottles were traditionally used to decant whiskeys and other liquors and fitted with pouring tops to serve. Simply a wonderful antique bar back bottle! Date: 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Condition Details: There is some content haze or sickness to the bottom of the bottle, and some light scratches here and there. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Unmarked Measurements: Height: ca. 10 7/8 in Diameter: ca. 3 1/2 in.
