This attractive silver engraved fish service pair is from Fabergé's Moscow workshop at the turn-of-the-century. In the neoclassical taste, the handles are decorated with splayed swans, wreathes and cornucopiae, the fork and knife are engraved with scrollwork and florets. Fully hallmarked with the imperial warrant of Fabergé, a kokoshnik (Russian headdress stamp) for Moscow 1899-1908, assaymaster Ivan Lebedkin and 84 for the Russian silver standard in zolotniks. The fork-8 in. (20.3 cm.); the knife: 8 5/8 in. (21.9 cm.) long. Monogrammed. The Fabergé Moscow workshop had its own highly distinctive style, specializing in silver objects and services and in the Russian empire style as seen here. Like Tiffany’s, Fabergé produced illustrated catalogues to advertise its unique merchandise to the buying public. The cornucopia service was one of its most popular.
