Movement is a Longines 17 jewel 8L with serial number 5679650 dating it to 1937. Size: 23mm wide, excl. crown x 37mm lug to lug and it takes a 16mm strap to fit a wrist size of between 160mm and 190mm. It has a 21-jewel Bulova 10AX with 1940 date code matching that of the case. Running beautifully following full service. Case is 10k gold filled throughout in good condition. For your consideration is this fully serviced Art Deco gentleman's manual wrist watch dating to 1938. This watch is powered by a good-quality American-made BULOVA 21-jewel 7AP hand-wound mechanical movement. Online records show the 7AP was manufactured from 1936 to 1944 and features a Breguet hairspring, as used on other high-end watches such as Rolex and noted for aiding more consistent timekeeping throughout the duration of the wind. This particular 21-jewel movement would have been one of Bulova’s top-of-the-range power plants of the era and is stamped with the moon date-code symbol for 1938. This also matches the date of the watch case itself. The long, curved two-piece 10k yellow gold-filled case includes Art Deco filigree on either sides of the dial, extending to the tips of the lugs. It presents very nicely for its 84 years, showing the usual light surface use, but no obvious wear to the plating. The back is very clean, and it snaps on securely to the top. Fabulous opportunity to acquire this wonderful gents manual wrist watch dating to 1947 and made by the US watch company Bulova. This particular model was named 'His Excellency' and is a little rarer in design because of the black dial, the casing is 10k white gold filled and is in super condition, bright and crisp. The back of the watch is clear from any engravings and is stainless steel. Diameter of case not including crown: app. 21mm x 38mm.
