A rare and large pate de verre molded sculpture of the mythological God Pan. Very thick and heavy; this glass piece is primarily bluish green with yellow, reds and orange. The likeness is uncanny with perfectly modeled facial features and traces of his goat horns. This piece was said to exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum in 1971 but there is no documentation. The mask is stamped Decorchemont on his right cheek. For serious collectors of Art Deco - Art Nouveau rare and beautiful glass, circa 1915.

Mr. Pattison was educated at the Francis W. Parker School in Chicago, Yale and the Yale School of Fine Arts. (B. 1916 - 1999) In 1939, he was granted Yale's first traveling fellowship, enabling him to study and work in China and Japan for 12 months.
Mr. Pattison's many other prestigious prizes included the Logan, Eisendrath, and Pauline Palmer Awards from the Art Institute of Chicago. The Logan prize, awarded in 1942, was for a bronze titled "Kneeling Women." In 1951 Mr. Pattison placed first in the Metropolitan Museum's contemporary American sculpture show. Between 1940 and 1970 alone, Mr. Pattison had 10 one-man shows in Chicago. His work is on display in some of the world's most renowned museums, including the Art Institute; the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City; the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C.; and the Israeli State Museum in Jerusalem.

Hand-worked circa 1800, this French vase is adorned with a chariot and cartouche scene. Some of the elements were hammered from the front side, in a metalworking technique known as chasing, while other motifs were worked from the verso side, which is known as repousse. It is not uncommon for the two methods to be used in tandem, and the work of this particular artisan is top notch.
The 5 ¾ diameter opening is flanked by two flared out handles that terminate on the widest part of the main body. A flowing foliate margent (repousse) adorns the top of the body, beneath the lightly textured thick neck (chased). The leaf theme continues beneath a thin ring of roundels that frames the upper body, with a sprawling foliage display that wraps around the lower body, interrupted by a pair of cartouches.
