Chaplain in Sterling Silver Mesh, End of the 19th Century
Located in CRÉTEIL, FR
Magnificent chaplain in solid silver mesh with two compartments.
Its closure is straight, decorated with a frieze of acanthus leaves, it has a bail ring so that it can be hung on a chatelaine.
Weight: 68.9grs
Period: End of the 19th century.
In perfect condition, no mesh is missing and is not discarded. From the 12th century to the 14th century, the chaplain has been an essential complement to daily clothing for both men and women.

In the 12th century, the chaplains were often very rich, either by the material or by the work of embroidery.
They were given as gifts to ladies. They were found in ordinary leather, Russian leather...
