About the Artist
Tiffany Blaise draws on the natural grandeur of British Columbia to develop her dreamy, expressionist seascapes. Before venturing into her studio in East Vancouver, she spends time walking the beach, taking photos and simply sitting and observing the light around her. Tiffany explains that even with a photo, her goal is to capture the mood, feeling and gesture of the scene. She begins painting by creating a study of her reference photograph to map out the key visual elements and establish the color palette. Color matching is one of her favorite aspects of painting, and she finds that it is highly influenced by her mood and the season. As a young developing artist, Tiffany devotes time to experimenting with different mediums, researching new techniques and studying the work of other artists. “I'm putting in my 10,000 hours!” she says. “A defining moment for me was realizing my love for painting the wilderness while I was at an artist residency in a national park near Sydney [Australia]. Artist Jennifer Ross creates intimate portraits of birds, nests and horses. Jennifer grew up surrounded by the art of her mother and grandfather. Her attempt to follow in their footsteps presented detours, however, and she ended up working in art galleries selling other's work. But her desire to paint continued to grow throughout the years. About the Artist
Artist Terri Bell constructs highly detailed geometric fields that dance to life with engaging colors and soft edges. As a young child, Terri always wanted to paint, draw, or play imaginative games. She entered college as an art major and received important mentorship from several teachers. Unfortunately, it was at this point that Terri’s art career was put on hold. "I had to make a couple of detours along the way, and ended up changing my major to political science," she says, "which led me to work in a high stress, high profile state government position." Terri’s creative pursuits were more limited but ever-present. "Art was the balance in my life and I never gave up my dream." Through hard work and determination, she has returned to her calling as a full-time career artist. When she’s not painting, Terri enjoys cooking, container gardening, and spending time with her husband and two Yorkies.

A male and female form face forward in an abstract landscape, the sunset glows brilliantly behind them. The figures are together, but there is a space between them. "The figures are fragments of faded, bittersweet memory - fondness and nostalgia," explains Gena. "The color schemes are a mixture of pastels and bold primaries - found in childhood - against a dark horizon and foreground. Contrasting light rests on the shoulders and edges of the figures, evoking an ambiguous, even mysterious mood." Part of Gena's ongoing Illumination series, exploring mood and emotion through abstract portraits. She begins each piece with a dark background, adding fast, autonomous and broad marks. As the work progresses, she reveals and wipes away a history of her mark-making, selectively deciding what imagery to keep and what to discard. She continues the process until recognizable imagery and figures materialize. Her reference material for these portraits is mostly color schemes observed in nature or from memory.

Artist Lee Smith combines abstract, expressionist, and gritty contemporary art in her work. “My style is greatly influenced by years spent in CGI production and an unapologetic love for the daily comics,” says Lee. As a keen observer, she finds her inspiration in the social aspects of life. Her work represents human emotions and portrays these emotions by illustrating the animal world, often using those popular companions—cats and dogs. In her long professional career, Lee has worked as a newspaper layout artist, a visual merchandising specialist, a freelance graphic artist, a technical illustrator, and an art director. Lee retired from the corporate world ten years ago to concentrate on her art career. “Although I studied art in college, I prefer to describe myself as 'self-taught.' Years of irreplaceable hands-on experience have provided an extensive and invaluable continuing education in the arts,” says Lee. When building her current home in Oregon, she added a small studio that she keeps organized and clutter-free. She wears her trusty paint-covered denim overall when working, and typically listens to audiobooks or podcasts. “I have dozens of paintbrushes in cans all over the studio, but I have only about 10 favorites that I always use.”

Scott works out of a 1947 Chevrolet school bus that is parked permanently in his Texas backyard. Scott is inspired by images he comes across in books or in daily life. His bold statement pieces demonstrate artful yet fanciful interpretations of world cultures. Part of his series of colorful abstracts with hints of recognizable subject matter that leaves the viewer room to explore. He combines techniques of collage and painting to unfold a dreamy and entertaining narrative.

About the Artist
Patrick O'Boyle primarily paints in a studio, rarely using reference material other than his own thoughts and dreams. He always paints in a series of five - at the end of the fifth painting he revisits and reworks all of them until he feels they're complete. Using extra-long handles on his brushes, Patrick paints at a distance from the canvas so he can see the works evolve as a whole from the one color he starts with to the vibrant array at the end.
