"SIMPLER DAYS" IMAGE 16 X 20 GRAPHITE STILL LIFE DRAWING
Located in San Antonio, TX
Halbert (Born 1957) Texas Artist Image Size: 16 x 20 Frame Size: 29 x 25 Medium: Graphite Drawing "Simpler Days" HALBERT - Biography Halbert was born and raised in North Central Texas, and early on developed an interest in portraying the horses, cattle and every day occurrences of the west, in pencil. Eventually Halbert became a partner in a large ranching operation, which kept him away from his art for many years. A few years ago, he picked up a pencil and began to pursue his dream of becoming a professional artist. " I believe my passion and love of horses and the western way of life show in my work. I thank God for this gift which allows me to share with others what I truly enjoy. " Halbert credits Texas artist George Hallmark for recognizing his talent and encouraging him to pursue his calling. Halbert has participated in many Art and Museum Shows across the country including Cheyenne Frontier...

Chanel Quilted Black Caviar Ray - Sumi Ink on Mulberry Paper, Gyotaku Original
Located in Chicago, IL
Designers have an wide reach through out the world but have yet to reach the depths of the ocean. Artist Jeff Conroy has created this Gyotaku print of large ray entitled simply "Channel Quilted Black Caviar Ray" to fill that void. To achieve this remarkable painting, the artist applies sumi ink to a sting ray he caught himself on Florida's Gulf Coast, then "prints" it onto Marbled Mulberry paper - a soft, handmade paper. He then embellishes the details with watercolor to give extraordinary dimension and interest to its overall aesthetic. The artwork is framed as shown. Jeff Conroy Chanel Quilted Black Caviar Ray sumi ink and watercolor on mulberry paper 37h x 25w in 93.98h x 63.50w cm FRAMED DIMENSIONS 42.50h x 30.75w x 1d in 107.95h x 78.11w x 2.54d cm JEC083 Gyotaku - A Japanese word translated from "gyo" meaning fish and "taku" meaning stone impression and is believed to get its inspiration from Chinese stone rubbings of calligraphy, which then gave rise to printing . This tradition dates back to the mid-1800s and was used by fishermen to record their catches, but has also become an art form of its own. Prints were made using Sumi ink and Washi paper. It is rumored that Samurai would settle fishing competitions using Gyotaku prints. This original form of Gyotaku is still utilized today, and can be seen hanging in fish and tackle shops all...

Janus, Botanical Watercolor & Gouache on Paper, 2 Bud Vases with Purple Flowers
Located in Chicago, IL
Two bud vases seemingly defy gravity as they teeter upon a watery surface in Christina Haglid's "Janus". This meticulously detailed watercolor invites the viewer to take a closer look at nature, to question what is seen and to enter into a newly created world. Intricate in her execution, Haglid uses watercolor as one might use a colored pencil. Layer upon layer of color is added to achieve this impressively detailed painting. Christina Haglid Janus watercolor and gouache on paper 11h x 8w in 21.75h x 18w framed CMH031 Artist's Statement Tiny Sanctuaries There has always been an intersection between the process of writing and the act of painting in my work. It has somehow been my guide. In the last four years, during the making of this work, that connection intensified as I started writing short stories and flash fiction while taking online classes. I find the process of writing and painting so different in almost every way, but there is something freeing and generative in writing which helps my painting process. Or perhaps it's a reminder of what painting is for me - something intuitive that needs to be trusted. And what they do have in common is a desire to encapsulate and distill a single moment, a story, about the complexity of our emotions and experiences. At the heart of my work is the recurring depiction of perseverance, strength of will, and a subtle optimism. Symbolically through the objects, precarious situations depict a moment of possible difficulty, often involving the influence of nature. A paper crane left in the snow. A boat nearly filled to the brim, but not submerged and able to drain its own contents carefully. A slide alone at night...

Water Dances 2022 - stunning circular ink/watercolor painting Chinese Artist
Located in Rancho Santa Fe, CA
Huang Wei Born in 1985 in Baotou, Inner Mongolia; 2011,Graduated from The Department of Chinese Painting of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor's degree; 2014,I graduated from Art College of Xizang University with a master's degree; Now he lives and works in Beijing T3 International Art District. After graduating from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Huang Wei chose to study in Xizang because he was unsatisfied with the procedural education mode. As an ideal and sacred place for many people, Tibet has also provided artistic inspiration for many artists. Huang Wei is not concerned with Tibetan folk customs or landscapes, but with Tibetan unique, faith-based artistic expression. The experience in Tibet was a rare retreat. He was willing to spend time in dialogue with nature as well as with his heart. Through painting, he established an inner field and objected to mountains, water and clouds with his mind. Huang Wei's brushwork does not move restlessly. The rich texture on the picture comes from the countless dots dyeing of the brush tip and rice paper. This technique, which originated from the Traditional Tibetan painting "Thangka", requires a state of extreme silence and numerous repetitions, approaching a state of meditation. This is the classical spirit from Tibet, and in keeping with the spiritual pursuits of the great achievers of the Himalayan region. As his mentor Li Jin...

Cloud (red)
Located in Montreal, Quebec
“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.” ― Albert Einstein. Always working with graphite and charcoal, Robbie Cornelissen’s limited palette emphasises the stark sombre nature of his metaphysical drawings, The Undertow is his sixth solo exhibition at Art Mûr. At the centre of the exhibition hovers Terra Nova, a dark and desolate world parallel to our own. Robbie Cornelissen’s drawings, such as The Space of Absence and Thriller, seem to pull from the stop motion’s frames. Other images, made especially for The Undertow isolate key fragments; the cloud, mounds and timeless dwellings, Cornelissen’s signature technical interest. In addition to his methodical approach, Cornelissen uses the written word, scrawling and erasing terms repeatedly, in English, French, and German, these fastidious markings and exact translations leave a trace and a glitch on paper and screen. Much of his existing work includes words and phrases like “tribunal,” “myself when I am real” and “the need to disappear.” Do they identify what forms, systems and sentiments that are, or could be present? Or do they warn of what is to come? Suspended in the atmosphere of a planetary body, Cornelissen’s clouds extend down to the surface, looming over Earth and Terra Nova. But are they harmless clouds, or associated with nuclear explosions? And is that the ash, dust, pollution and detritus of these invented places, the remnants of an unsustainable society, a dream factory? Or the promise of life anew? In weather forecasting, or aeromancy, the presence of clouds can promise darkness and gloom, but they can also bring cleansing. The ominous aura of the grid, an applied system and structure used by many, including draughtsmen, architects, urban planners, designers and artists to organise and sometimes classify information, is a recurring element in his work. The grid can be observed from a distant bird’s eye view, or close up, allowing Cornelissen’s large format drawings...
