About the Item
Gen Paul (1895-1955 Fr.) lived in Montmartre, Paris France. He is know for his action painting with quick brush strokes and this work of art was painted around 1955-1960.
He was a musician who played the trumpet and lost his leg during the war and was a artist who lived and painted in Montmartre his whole life. I was privileged to have met his dealer on my early visits and discussed his paintings during my annual visits to Paris. Gen Paul like Maurice Utrillo liked to drink and enjoy life.

- Condition:This is an original gouache very bright and colorful depicting performing musicians. Gen Paul was musician who played the trumpet himself. It is ready to hang condition in a gold carved frame, silk mat and 23K. gold leaf bevel from the 1990's.

Gen Paul
Gen Paul was born as Eugène Paul in a house in Montmartre on the Rue Lepic painted by Van Gogh, he began drawing and painting as a child. His father died when he was only 10 years old and Paul was trained to work in decorative furnishings. He served in the French army during World War I and was wounded twice, losing one of his legs.
