Dedication to Picasso. 1993, assemblage, cardboard, wood, acrylic, 68 x 47 cm Georgs Barkans (1925-2010) Textile artist, architect, artist Professional education: University of Latvia, Faculty of Architecture (1945-1952) Art Academy of Latvia (1946-1949) Member of the Artists' Union of Latvia (since 1966) Member of the Architects Association of Latvia (since 1958) Member of the Textile Industry Association of Latvia (since 1995) Participated in exhibitions since 1958. Personal exhibitions in Riga (1965, 1970 together with Indriksone and L. Mednece, 1975, 1981), in Dole (1980), in Kolding (Denmark, 1993). Group exhibitions in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, USA and Canada. In the middle of 1960s he began participated in exhibitions with works in batik technique. Since the end of the 60s, he has been focusing on weaving. Large-size textile decorative objects are made mainly in mixed technique. One of the main themes is connected with the 0unicorns, which were often depicted in tapestries in ancient France at 15th century. Figures form in the tapestries of Barkan is ornamental. The nuanced color gamma can felt especially at the works on the nature theme. Barkan is one of the first in Latvia, engaged in spatial textiles. Ideologically and formally, originally made minitextiles. Participated in exhibitions with paintings, published articles on architecture and applied art in newspaper "Literature and Art", "Soviet Youth". In 1968 he was awarded with the medal by the Artists' Union for the best creative achievement.

Juris Zvirbulis was born in 1944 in Riga. 1970 graduated from the Riga Secondary School of Applied Arts decorators department. 1971 Member Artists' Union of the Latvia. In 1971 First solo exhibition in the artistic and historical museum of Tukums in Latvia. In 1974 his illustrations for the A.S. Pushkin's book, "Eugene Onegin" (published Liesma) was awarded at the 7th All-Union competition of books, posters and postcards design (Moscow, USSR).
