The allure of deep pink, a colour that evokes feelings of pure joy dominates the canvas in this enigmatic abstract painting by Ivo Stoyanov. The Canadian artist has become internationally recognized for his richly layered geometric compositions inspired by nature’s colours, form and textures. In this piece, expressive and textured rectangular pink shapes play against a neutral backdrop of spontaneous black marks and stains. ‘Equipoise’ means equilibrium. One of a series.

Ivo Stoyanov received a master’s degree in Mural Painting from the Fine Arts Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria (1990). His artwork is collected in the US, Canada, Japan, the UK, China, the United Arab Emirates, Spain and Bulgaria.
