Using gouache and pastel on black paper, the artist creates a dynamic interplay between color, form, and space, where touches of color amplify the composition's dimensions. Painting on black paper gives the sensation of creating something that emerges, making forms more three-dimensional, while on white paper, the feeling is more about carving into the surface, often leading to two-dimensional forms that lack vibrancy. Black and white, often called monochrome, are extremes of each other, yet their relationship implies both separation and unity, with all colors part of their spectrum, from the lightest white to the darkest black. What began as an exploration of color evolved into the Mono Chrome series, where light and darkness interact to reveal the manifestation of color in our world: light unveils the spectrum, and darkness highlights its absence.
