This is a lovely mixed media painting by popular Philadelphia based artist, Tom Judd. Provenance: Estate of Patrick Eddington. Patrick Eddington was a Utah school teacher who had the improbable idea of writing to his favorite artists and asking them to draw or paint pictures of cats. “This project is a labor of love," Eddington wrote of his endeavor in a 2004 letter. “It will culminate as a large book and traveling exhibition. It will also help Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. I’ve asked individuals I admire to create cat-related works. They are not the typical cat images but creative works.” Patrick Eddington passed away in early 2016 and his vision was, unfortunately, never realized. Born in Bosnia, Anton Sipos began drawing at an early age and left home in his teens to work as a film animation artist. He achieved immediate success with his first work, "Surrogate", which won an Academy Award for best-animated short subject under the direction of Yugoslav animator Dushon VuKotic.
In 1964, Sipos moved to Montmartre to study at the École de Paris. During this early period, Sipos exhibited widely and with success including at the Salon d'Automne and Le Salon d'Artistes Françaises. While in France, he made numerous painting trips to Provence, Giverny, Rouen and the Cote d'Azur as well as to Italy.
In 1970, Sipos arrived in California where he painted landscapes of Los Angeles and marine scenes of the harbor in San Diego. He also worked as an artist for the film industry, most notably with Eleanor Ettinger Studio in New York where he was given the responsibility of transferring Norman Rockwell...
