Urban Coyote - Highly Detailed Photorealist Painting of Coyote in Urban Setting
Located in Chicago, IL
Rick Pas Urban Coyote Acrylic on panel 24h x 30w in 26.75h x 32.75w in framed RPA003 ARTIST'S STATEMENT Creating is an addiction. With all the highs and lows you would expect. I am interested in the surface textures and creating paintings that portray them in realistic detail. Hopefully a viewer will feel they can run a hand over the feathers and moss, or grasp an object in the painting. This detail is usually composed in an abstract design. The design can occur naturally or be arranged by me. The subjects of my paintings are usually based on the patterns and textures of nature and human interaction with nature. I have found subjects to paint in remote wilderness areas of the world, local parking lots, and my own backyard. "Tigre atacando" 1/20, mini sculpture, special edition, art toy, tiger, Mexican
Located in Ciudad de México, MX
A piece from the exhibition "Cosmic Duality" by artist Mr. Mitote. Mitote is a term we use today to describe a lively, noisy, and excessive gathering. It’s also used to depict tumultuous gatherings marked by disorder, commotion, and sometimes even quarrels. In the colonial past, mitote was a celebration commemorating the establishment of the New Spain kingdom, blending local pride with imperial solemnity. However, throughout both ancient times and the present day, mitotes serve as rituals embedded in the culture and religiosity of various indigenous groups in Mexico, such as the Nahua, Cora, Tepehuan, and Huichol. Adorned in rich attire, gathered around a fire amidst the sounds of musical instruments, and under the intoxicating influence of alcoholic beverages, mitotes serve as occasions to invoke sacred beings—whether protective deities of nature or Christian saints associated with agriculture—to pray for bountiful harvests. Mitotes encompass and have always embodied rites, myths, and life. In homage to the artist’s name, this exhibition is presented as a mitote: a celebration displaying the intimate mythologies of its creator through various artistic expressions such as sculpture, artwork, and video. Cosmic Duality is a concept wherein Mr. Mitote delves into memories of his childhood from a contemporary perspective. His mother introduced him at a young age to the traditions and customs of her native Maltrata, Veracruz, a town steeped in the memory of a noble past wherein it fought for its autonomy. Every year on January 1st, to invoke prosperity, the dance of the huehues (meaning “old people” or “elders” in Nahuatl) is performed. According to oral and local traditions, these characters embody foes in a mocked and vanquished manner, dancing beneath the lash of a tiger or devil. Their costumes feature pre-Columbian symbols merged with elements evoking nature, alongside nods to contemporary entertainment culture. Through the observation and interpretation of nature, numerous ancestral cultures created dual cosmologies. Far from viewing opposites, they conceived of dual complementary systems such as chaos-order, cold-heat, humidity-drought, feminine-masculine, and life-death, among others, to uphold cosmic order. Placed within the context of Mexico City, Mr. Mitote reimagines these enduring principles from ancient religious practices alongside contemporary languages. He does so through vibrant entities that blend tradition and innovation, memory and fantasy, past and present, ancestral ceremonies, and urban rituals. Each artwork serves as a reminder that across all latitudes and human territories, culture thrives, tradition evolves continuously, the past is revitalized, and the present shapes the path forward into the future. The body has served as the quintessential conduit bridging two dual dimensions: the human and the divine, the earthly and the celestial, the microcosm and the macrocosm. In several of his artworks, Mr. Mitote invokes propitiatory dances, and ritual practices, aimed at attracting abundant rain and fostering good harvests, many of which entail risking the physical well-being and even the lives of participants. The tiger hunt...

Speak Up
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
In "Speak Up," Bright Toh employs unconventional imagery by merging the head of a cow with a human body. This unexpected combination challenges our preconceived notions and encourages us to look beyond the surface, prompting a deeper exploration of the artwork's underlying message. The cow, often associated with docility and domesticity, takes on a new meaning as it becomes a vessel for the human form, suggesting that even the most unexpected individuals possess the potential for individual expression. The artwork's bright and lively color palette serves as a visual feast for the eyes. Bold hues, such as vibrant blues, fiery red, and vivid greens, infuse the composition with energy and captivate the viewer's attention. The oversized raincoat worn by the figure adds an element of whimsy and intrigue, symbolizing protection and shelter from external influences. It also serves as a metaphorical cloak, representing the need for individuals to find their unique voices and confidently express their ideas and opinions. "Speak Up" serves as a poignant reminder of the significance of individual expression in our society. In a world often characterized by conformity and the suppression of diverse viewpoints, the artwork encourages viewers to embrace their unique perspectives and have the courage to speak up. It celebrates the value of authenticity and reminds us that every individual has a story to tell, a voice to be heard, and ideas that can shape the world around us. Through the fusion of a cow head and a human body, "Speak Up" challenges the traditional notion of what is considered "normal" or acceptable. The artwork serves as a call to question societal norms and encourages viewers to challenge the status quo, promoting a culture of inclusivity and acceptance. It invites us to reconsider the limitations we impose on ourselves and others, reminding us that diversity and individuality should be celebrated rather than suppressed. Bright Toh's artwork, "Speak Up," stands as a vibrant and thought-provoking testament to the power of individual expression. Through the striking fusion of a cow head and a human body, the artwork challenges conventional wisdom and calls for a celebration of authenticity and diversity. By embracing our unique voices and perspectives, we contribute to a richer and more vibrant society. "Speak Up" serves as a reminder to break free from the constraints of conformity and find the courage to express our true selves, amplifying the power of our individuality in the world. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Born on the 6th of August 1994 in Buea, Bright Toh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Buea. Notwithstanding his Engineering academic background, Toh is a self-taught visual artist. Bright Toh is a visual artist with artistry portraying the exquisite synergy that exists between the evolving African man, wildlife, and their common environment, through the possession of totems as a liaison to his ancestries, which is a core aspect of his identity and cultural heritage.
