After completing his fine art studies art at La Grande Academie Chaumiere in Paris Ron Blumberg left for New York in 1932, where he worked for eight years as a National Academy artist and a member of the Art Students League.
Virtually every painting from this early New York period has been sold, making this the rarest period of work in Ron Blumberg’s career.
City Street: Fifth Avenue, is an original oil on canvas, signed, c.1932, with an image dimension of 39 x 39 inches, good original condition with two very small restorations, set in a beautiful custom white gold frame.

Original figurative illustration of people at the beach by Charles Ross Kinghan (American, 1895-1984). Several women are looking at someone's foot, as if there is a splinter being removed. Three of the women are closer, with their heads in the frame. Two of them have are standing with their backs to the viewer. Between the women, the viewer can catch glimpses of other activities on the beach. Possibly a sketch for Good Housekeeping Magazine.

Charles Ross Kinghan (American, 1895-1984) was born in Anthony, KS on January 18, 1895. A teacher, he moved to Wichita as a teenager and did sign painting for the Western Sign Works. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art in 1916, the American Academy of Art in Chicago, the Audubon School of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. He was a pupil of Carl Scheffler, J. Wellington Reynolds, and H.A. Oberteuffer.
He taught at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He was an illustrator for McCalls, Good Housekeeping, Saturday Evening Post, Colliers, and many others, including American Artist magazine.

'Paris, la Bourse', gouache on paper, by Lucien Génin (circa 1930s). Created at the beginning of the 19th century by Napoleon, la Bourse, or the Stock Exchange, was intended to assert and encourage France’s prosperity in industry and trade. In 1826 the Stock Exchange was installed in the palace that the architect Brongniart had begun in 1808. Surrounded by a large peristyle of Corinthian columns, the rectangular structure reflects the official neo-classicism of the Empire Period. The artist, Génin, depicts a typically lively 1930s day in front of the building with cars of the period zooming by pedestrians on the walkway and others on the stairs leading to the entrance. He has an extremely charming, almost childlike style particularly the way he renders the people and the vehicles. The building, on the other hand, is accurate in its detail and more seriously presented. Our gallery has held and has sold over a dozen of Genin's paintings but this one stands out for its pure stylish appeal and ability to captivate while inducing a smile in the viewer. The artwork is in good overall condition - there are some minor blemishes not on the artwork itself but on the edges of the mount to which it is attached. The frame is in fair condition showing some nicks and scratches. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying the listing. Upon request a video can be provided. Francis Chapin, affectionately called the “Dean of Chicago Painters” by his colleagues, was one of the city’s most popular and celebrated painters in his day. Born at the dawn of the 20th Century in Bristolville, Ohio, Chapin graduated from Washington & Jefferson College near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before enrolling at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1922. He would set down deep roots at the Art Institute of Chicago, exhibiting there over 31 times between 1926 and 1951. In 1927 Chapin won the prestigious Bryan Lathrop Fellowship from the Art Institute – a prize that funded the artist’s yearlong study trip to Europe. Upon his return to the United States, Chapin decided to remain in Chicago, noting the freedom Chicago artists have in developing independently of the pressure to conform to pre-existing molds (as was experienced by artists in New York, for example). Chapin became a popular instructor at the Art Institute, teaching there from 1929 to 1947 and at the Art Institute’s summer art school in Saugatuck, Michigan (now called Oxbow) between 1934 – 1938 (he was the director of the school from 1941-1945). Antonio Petruccelli (1907-1994) began his career as a textile designer. He became a freelance illustrator in 1932 after winning several House Beautiful cover illustration contests.
In addition to 24 Fortune magazine covers, four New Yorker covers, several for House Beautiful, Collier’s, and other magazines he did numerous illustrations for Life magazine from the 1930s – 60s.
‘Tony was Mr. Versatility for Fortune. He could do anything, from charts and diagrams to maps, illustrations, covers, and caricatures,’ said Francis Brennan, the former art director for Fortune.

Moshe Matus (Matusovski) 1908, Warsaw, Russian Poland - November 23, 1958 Toronto, Canada. was a Polish Israeli modernist painter who lived during the last decade of his life in The United States and Canada. Matus was born in 1908 in the Russian city of Warsaw, into a traditional and Zionist family, the eldest of the three children of Dr. Josef Matusovsky, a dentist, and was a member of Hashomer Hatzair in Warsaw in 1924. When he was 15, He studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in the 1920s with Boris Schatz and was educated at the Herzliya Gymnasium where he studied painting and sculpture. He studied for several years at École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts (Bose-R) in Paris. He returned to Tel Aviv and lived there on Sheinkin Street. From the 30s was one of the most prominent artists in the country. he exhibited In shows general as well as in solo shows - which exhibition at the Herzliya in Tel Aviv, which opened Benzion friends (1932); in Allenby 15, Tel Aviv (1935) exhibition in Pomrock , which opened the poet Saul Tchernichovsky and Moses (1936), at the Steimatzky Gallery in Jerusalem , opened by Dr. Moshe Duchan (March 23, 1937); An exhibition at the Cosmopolitan Gallery in Tel Aviv (formerly the Bach Gallery, 1 Hess Street), opened by Mayor Israel Rokach (March 5, 1938); and an exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum (1946).
