Here for your consideration is a very well executed original oil on board painting by the American artist, George A. Traver. Signed lower right. Signed and titled verso. National Academy of Design exhibition label verso. (1923) Condition is very good; no issues. The painting done in an impressionist style depicting a mother and her child picking wild flowers in a field. A beautiful variety of greens and blues dominate the composition. The figures are painted with a soft white palette are equally well done. The painting has recently been professionally cleaned. The painting is housed in its original wood frame with a hand hammered copper metal wrap over wood. The frame is from the arts and crafts period and is in fine condition. Overall framed measurements are 18.75 by 4.75 inches. Provenance: A Sarasota, Florida collector. In 1864, George Traver was born in Corning, New York. Exquisite, original oil on canvas painting of a ballet performance by the well known French artist, Jean-Louis-Marcel Cosson. Signed by the artist lower left. Condition is very good. Old wax reline. Solid mahogany wood frame with gold decoration. Overall framed measurements are 24.75 by 33.25 inches. Jean-Louis-Marcel Cosson was born in 1878 in Bordeaux. His first exhibition was in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he would later become a member. He received an honourable mention at the age of 23 in 1901, and a third-place medal in 1911. He also exhibited at the Société des Beaux Arts and the Salon des Tuileries. ​ Cosson is a post-impressionist artist who developed a very distinctive style which makes him immediately recognisable among his peers. His passion was to capture a bustling Paris which was the epicentre of the Modern art world at the beginning of the twentieth century. ​ Fascinated by Edgar Degas, he almost invariably followed the themes beloved by the Impressionist Master, such as Parisian women or horse racing. This large oil on canvas painting by Adam Springfield depicts the Battle of Ptolemais which took place in 1191. It is signed lower left and dated 1877. The verso of the painting contains the title of the painting. It has it's original period gold leaf frame and measures 44 x 63.75 inches. The siege of Ptolemais is unique in the history of the Crusades since the Frankish besiegers were themselves besieged, by Saladin's troops. It was not captured until July 1191 when the forces of the Third Crusade, led by King Richard I of England and King Philip II of France, came to King Guy's aid.
