In his series Jungle, Spanish artist Calo Carratalá presents his interpretation of the Amazon rainforest, a place he has explored on several expeditions across Peru, Ecuador, and Brazil. Through his paintings and drawings, Carratalá reflects the landscape as he has experienced it—living within it, transcending it, and ultimately absorbing its essence.
Each brushstroke brings the humidity of the air to life, evoking emotions such as fear or exhilaration as one immerses in a forest so dense it feels as if it could engulf you. Without overtly forcing the point, the artist probes our complex relationship with nature, highlighting the ambivalence it stirs—caught between fascination and dread.

Calo Carratalá, a contemporary artist from Valencia, specializes in landscapes. Driven by a passion for travel, he has ventured through the Amazon, Colorado, the Alps, the Pyrenees, and even Norway's forests—always with a sketchpad in hand. His approach, reminiscent of the Romantic artists, captures a natural world that is both turbulent and awe-inspiring, provoking admiration and contemplation.

Calo Carratalá
Artist Calo Carratalá takes a contemporary view of nature in his stirring large-format drawings and landscape paintings. He maintains that we don't view it the way we once did and, in contrast to the way that Renaissance painters saw landscapes as depictions of places that had yet to be discovered, Carratalá sees the natural world as something to be protected and not merely admired.
From his snow-topped cabins hidden deep in the woods to sunlit tropical beaches, Carratalá’s scenes are wholly inviting for viewers. Each of his paintings reflects the majesty of nature and gives us a sense of its innate significance.
Carratalá was born and raised in Spain and began painting when he was very young. In 1980, he began his art studies at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos in Valencia and finished his studies in 2000 at the Spanish Academy in Rome.
Carratalá made a name for himself in the art world over the subsequent few years, securing many commissions and showing in numerous galleries around Spain and greater Europe. In 2010, he received a request from the city of Alicante in his native country to show his work at a metro station. In 2019, he exhibited his art at Museo del Ruso in Alarcón.

Carol Bennett spends all of her time surrounded by water, and a great deal within it. Her work is a meditative journey through both the water and through life. The viewer will experience being in a state “flow” – where the currents of the ocean suspend life and self, and the unexpected floats to the surface.
Carol's work has been featured in many solo and group exhibits throughout California, New York, Martha's Vineyard and Hawaii including a 2007 solo show at the First Hawaiian Center at the Contemporary Museum of Art (Honolulu) and a 2018 group show "Making Waves" exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. Her work was seen alongside April Gornik, Agnes Martin, Kiki Smith, and Pat Steir. In 2019, she was also featured in exhibits at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, the Hawaii State Art Museum and a solo exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. She has been featured in Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Ocean Home Magazine and the New York Times. Carol's artwork has also been featured in Designer Showhouses in Westchester NY and the Hamptons, and is part of public and private collections around the world.
