About the Item
From the artist statement, "My artwork centers on mid-century American architecture and design, once revered for its groundbreaking ideas in form and social planning, but now largely undervalued in a culture that hungers for change.
"Working in a realistic style, my paintings capture those settings where mid-century Modernism and environment come together harmoniously. I manipulate lighting, dramatic angles, and layout to form engaging scenes that showcase the dynamic elements of these spaces. Often focusing on Modern suburban tract homes, classic cars, and house interiors, my work exposes this period of innovation to the wider public, and especially to new generations. In doing so, I’m helping to build a new respect for the past, aid in its preservation, and learn from it in order to move forward."

Danny Heller
Danny Heller paints the reality of the American environment: how structures once revered for their groundbreaking ideas in design and social planning have been perpetuated and how they have been forgotten. Primarily focusing on the nation’s mid-century identity, Heller plays with lighting, dramatic angles, and specific colors to form engaging paintings that capture architectural elements. He uses a realistic style to paint those moments where design and environment come together harmoniously in order to showcase the compelling characteristics of these spaces. In some ways, Heller acts as a documentarian of an endangered architectural culture in America. However, these paintings are a bit more personal, as they tend to focus on locations from the artist's childhood or at least slices of an era recounted to him from his parents’ and grandparents’ times. By painting these historically and personally significant scenes, Heller reconnects with a presumably by-gone time period whose remnants actually still exist. Because
especially in an age that values constant change, when the past is demolished to
make way for the brand new, we are at risk of losing our collective history. Without
which, we leave ourselves devoid of a foundation to build our future on.

"Lost in L.A." Orange and Blue Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting
Located in Houston, TX
Abstract contemporary landscape painting by Texas artist, Nathaniel Sing. This piece features an L.A. side street blending with an orange and blue gradient background. Signed and dated by the artist at the back. Unframed but framing options are available.
Artist Statement: What is color to you? Really think about it for a second. Go past the everyday backdrops, items, clothing, spaces, etc. in your life. Perhaps think about your favorite color. A memory of an unforgettable sunset, or even a specific moment in your life. I have found especially with memories and emotions, that colors provide a base for those things to exist in our minds. Memories and emotions are inherently fading or fleeting as our lives move forward. My question and focus are how we preserve them for our own personal reasons, growth, or perhaps a way to humble ourselves.
Through the use of acrylic paints, graphic design, and color relationships I aim to capture the essence of emotions and memories. Although each of these paintings is from my own personal experiences and memories my intent is to capture and express them through the lens of color and their relationships with each other and ourselves.
