About the Item
Impressive oil on canvas painting, worked with brush and palette knife of the iconic Pont Neuf bridge in Paris. Done in a post modern by the French artist, Dominique Simon, who used the pseudonym, “Simdo”. Signed lower right, Paris. The painting is in excellent condition. Gallery gold frame with narrow linen liner showing wear consistent with age. Overall framed measurements are 37 by 31 inches.
Dominique Simon left her early classical style to become an outsider artist in the late 1980’s. This painting was executed in the early to mid 1980’s.
The Pont Neuf (French pronunciation: [pɔ̃ nœf], "New Bridge") is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris, France. It stands by the western (downstream) point of the Île de la Cité, the island in the middle of the river that was, between 250 and 225 BC, the birthplace of Paris, then known as Lutetia and, during the medieval period, the heart of the city.
