About the Item
Spring in the northeast USA is celebrated with floral landscapes of all shapes and sizes. Artist Doreen Tighe's most recent floral creation is this 30x24 expressionist vertical oil painting of hollyhocks in full bloom. While using many of her signature impressionist techniques such as heavy impasto, she has chosen to accentuate this piece of red, white and green with innovative strokes and paint applications to bring added life and motion to the piece. Following in the footsteps of her cousin and mentor famed Walt Gonske, Tighe's work is free flowing yet disciplined. Tighe studied and traveled with art guru Kevin McPherson after graduating from the prestigious New York Fashion Institute with a major in illustration. Over the years Tighe has shown her work from New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado to Georgia, New Jersey and Iceland. Her work is collected internationally. This piece is showing in a slightly distressed silver plein air frame; framed it is 36x30. It would be suitable for most transitional spaces, adding a pop of color amidst the neutrals.
