Paesaggio Addotivo
Located in San Francisco, CA
Serse creates drawings by erasure. He covers a sheet of paper with a dense layer of graphite, then ''draws'' on its surface with an eraser. Using photos as his point of departure, Serse renders mountains, bodies of water and trees from the shades of gray that emerge as he plies his eraser. The resulting image is mounted on aluminum. This image has a powerful presence because of the composition and the clarity of its realism.
Serse was born in 1952 in San Polo di Piave. He lives and works in Trieste. The artist has produced over the years an extraordinary series of images that have been included in the book “Drawing”, edited by Phaidon Press. These also owed him the participation in significant national and international exhibitions such as: Parkview Museum in Beijing and Singapore (2018 - 2019); Palazzo del Governatore, Parma, Italy (2018); Centre Pompidou, Musée National d’Art Moderne, Paris, France (2013); Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rimini, Italy (2012); Musée des Beaux-Arts et d’archéologie, Besançon, France (2010); Palazzo Reale, Milan, Italy (2007); De Garage Cultuurcentrum, Mechelen, Belgium (2006); III Biennial of Valencia, Spain (2005); S.M.A.K., Gent, Belgium (2004); Rufino Tamayo Museum, Mexico City, Mexico (2002); Center for Contemporary Art Luigi Pecci, Prato, Italy (2002); Kunstverein Augsburg , Augsburg, Germany (2000); Musée de Beaux Arts, Gent, Belgium (1999); Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, Venice, Italy (1997). Amongst the institutions that hosted his most recent solo shows include: Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Saint-Etienne Métropole, Saint-Etienne, France (2014); Galleria Continua, San Gimignano, Italy (2015), Tan Guobin Museum, Changsha, China (2017) and Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana, Cuba (2017 - 2018).

Landmark
By Bruce Richards
Located in San Francisco, CA
Artist: Bruce Richards – American (1948-)
Title: Landmark
Year: 1989
Medium: Oil on canvas
Size: 62 x 36 inches.
Framed size: 64 x 38 inches
Signature: Signed, dated, titled en verso
Condition: Very good
This painting has a wonderful presence. I believe it is from Richards’ “Change in the Weather Series”. The sky and the figure in the painting change in various paintings in the series. This is a relatively peaceful figure (sword at side) and fair sky (blue, no clouds). Other works from this series are more turbulent. Richards is an uncommon artist whose work is both conceptually and aesthetically engaging. The sky in this painting has a beautiful luminosity and depth. The painting measures 62” x 36” (64” x 38” framed). It is composed of oil on canvas and is in very good condition. The frame is also in good condition and works well with the painting.

By Nicholas Berger
Located in Greenwich, CT
American, b. 1949
In his more than three decades as an artist, Nicholas Berger (b. 1949) has created an outstanding body of work that continues to evolve and excite viewers. Best known for his industrial, waterfront scenes of New York between 1930-1970, Berger effortlessly captures a period when the technology and landscape of the city was rapidly changing. Although he paints scenes of a bygone era, Berger draws inspiration from the waterfronts near his home in New York’s Hudson River Highlands as well as historical sources in museums. Berger holds BFA and MFA degrees from Alfred University.
Earlier in his career, the artist painted representational landscapes rendered in watercolor, a medium in which he achieved great success, sharing a sellout two-person show in Tokyo with Andrew Wyeth. In the mid-2000s, Berger transitioned to his signature industrial scenes of the city, employing oil on panel in a painterly manner influenced by the Hudson River and Brandywine schools...
