This artwork titled "Paisaje, Godella (Valencia) Espana" is an oil on canvas by noted Spanish artist Jose Salvador Rodriguez Bronchu, 1913-1999. It is signed at the lower left corner by the artist. The canvas size is 19.75 x 29 inches. It is in very good condition.
About the artist:
He took his first steps in the world of art with his father, also a painter. He then continued his training with Juan Belda until the Spanish Civil War. In the 1940s and 1950s he obtained his first awards: Provincial Exhibition of Education and Rest of Valencia (1947), Prize from the General Directorate of Fine Arts (1954), First Second Prize for the Painters of Africa Medal in Madrid (1956), XXX Madrid Autumn Salon (1959), etc.
His artistic life took place in the area of the city of Godella, which Ignacio Pinazo had promoted by working in this same town near Valencia. He developed a painting of dense impasto, chromatic richness and adequate composition, which connects well with the spirit of impressionism. His status as a poet and writer means that his works always have a poetic background that is transferred to the viewer in a subliminal way. He worked for the North American market for years, under a contract with the Gilbert Galleries. In his role as a writer, we must highlight the numerous texts for catalogs that he wrote about authors of his time.

Johann Berthelsen was born in Copenhagen in 1883, the 7th of seven children, to Conrad and Dorothea Karen Berthelsen. His parents were involved in artistic and professional circles. In 1890, his mother brought the children to America, settling in Manistee, Michigan, with her sister's family. They would eventually move to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, a city on the shore of Lake Michigan. As a teenager, Johann was actively involved in choirs and singing groups. And he always loved to draw and paint, and while he was too impatient to take well to schoolwork, and never went beyond the 5th grade.
Although he worked in several trades, Johann's mind and heart were always with the arts. As his voice matured, he also always wanted to be an actor, and at the age of 18 moved to Chicago where he reconnected with an old friend who was studying voice at the Chicago Musical...
