About the Item
Faro Barra do Douro-III is the third piece in a series dedicated to this iconic lighthouse at the mouth of the Douro River, Portugal. The painting presents a perspective of the main walkway leading to the lighthouse, highlighting an atmosphere of calm and serenity. Warm tones, characteristic of a summer sunset, bathe the scene in golden light that blends into a pink and yellow sky, clearly separated from the sea by a defined horizon line.
The composition guides the viewer’s gaze toward the lighthouse, located in the upper right corner, creating a dynamic contrast with the diagonals of the walkway. The absence of human figures emphasizes the space and chosen solitude, capturing a moment of stillness in a usually busy place. This work highlights the beauty of the surroundings and the calmness of the sea, elements that fascinated the artist and define this visual trilogy.
