Romona Youngquist was born on January 11, 1960 in Yuba City, California, but grew up in Eastern Oklahoma. Youngquist essentially started out in life as a child of nature, spending her time exploring the woods with her dog and collecting critters. While exploring, she also studied the design and color of nature. She recalls many times standing in a field just staring in fascination at the values of the deciduous trees against a dark Oklahoma sky before a storm then rushing home to draw what she had seen. Technically self-taught, she thinks of nature as her real teacher. In 1994 she was awarded a grant from the Alaska State Council for the Arts to study with Oregon landscape painter Michael Gibbons. In the late 1990’s she studied with Michael Workman, a leading Landscape painter from Utah. She has taken their valuable lessons and strengthened her own individual style. He was a Belgian impressionist painter of landscapes, marines, harbour scenes, architectures, interiors, city and canal views, portraits and figures. He was also a watercolourist. Gilsoul studied at the Antwerp Academy of Fine Arts with the famed master teachers and artists François Courtens (1854 - 1895) and Louis Artan (1837 - 1890). In 1882 he won his first prize at the Academy and in 1884 debuted at the Brussels Salon. He studied also at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts, where he won a prize (1885-1890). Gilsoul  was member of the group ‘Voorwaerts’ in 1891. He was awarded a silver medal at the Paris World Fair in 1900. His father was a goldsmith. In 1931 he got married and went to live in the Biezenstraat. He died on February 12, 1989. He was a painter, restorer of paintings and copyist of Flemish Primitives. In 1912 he entered the Bruges Academy of Fine Arts with director Flori Van Acker as his teacher and famed artist. In 1926 the Municipal Council of Bruges appointed him as a teacher at the Bruges Academy. He would remain in this position until 1966, the year he retired. Poupaert turned out to be a solid painter with high qualities. He painted numerous Bruges townscapes and also made portraits of important Bruges figures. In the period 1952-1956, he painted two portraits of guardians and superiors of the convent of Our Lady of the Pottery. In 1955 he collaborated with Jules Fonteyne on the murals of the Church of Christ the King. In 1961 he copied for the second time Memling’s triptych “The Adoration of the Magi” by order of Bruges Naval College who gave it as a gift to the King and Queen of Belgium...
