Pond Calligraphy
Located in Phoenix, AZ
acrylic on brushed aluminum b. 1950, Teaneck, New Jersey One of the most powerful tools an artist possesses is an ability to bridge the gap between what is considered real and what is illusion. This ability to alter or enhance reality is the very crux of what an artist is all about, and their success at attaining this is usually the defining element as to their stature in the field, as either an abstract or realist painter. Occasionally a painter is able to combine these two distinct disciplines and create an art form, which holds a viewer’s attention by balancing the paradox of the flat painted surface with the illusion of depth and space. "As a painter, it is important for me to address the concerns of painting what has been done-and what can I add to this. My work on aluminum is an attempt to use the qualities of refracted light, and have these qualities interact with the painting. The completed image is produced both by refracted light, created by the use of various wire brushes and paint airbrushed in transparent layers. Within this process about half of the image is produced by refracted light alone, simulating paint, and about half by paint." For over twenty years, David Kessler followed a Photo-Realist tradition, often depicting the Arizona desert landscape...

Located in Bozeman, MT
Sarah Winkler is a British born, American contemporary landscape painter who has lived most of her life abroad in countries such as Malawi, Africa and Brunei, Borneo. She has lived in the US since 1989 and has spent over two decades living and working in California and Colorado. She studied Art and Earth Science at William Paterson University and combines both subjects in her landscape and environmental artworks. The artist is best known for her monumentally scaled, color rich, luminous paintings that interpret the geological storied past and eventful present of the formation of the American wilderness landscape. She incorporates ground water, crushed rock and materials from the landscape in her paintings to create moments of connection, exploration and discovery. Winkler has exhibited in solo and group shows nationally in galleries, regional museums and art fairs since 2004. Her work was recently showcased at the LA Art Fair, Art Aspen and the Jackson Hole Art Fine Art Fair. In 2019, Winkler was selected by US Ambassador, John Pommersheim and the curators of the Art in Embassies program to participate in a 3-year International exhibition at the Ambassador’s residence in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Winkler was also invited to exhibit at the Colorado Governor’s Residence in Denver. Her artworks are in many private, public and corporate collections. Girona Pause - Realistic Architectural Oil Painting
Located in Chicago, IL
Throughout this piece Pylant explores the concept of impossible spaces, by creating urban scenes that blend into nature, creating portals within the artwork. The juxtaposition of urban and natural gives the artwork a surreal sense that immerses the viewer with a comforting sense of familiarity. By incorporating scenes of the present with imagery from past memories, Pylant develops a dialogue between past and future, creating a compelling and striking image that completely absorbs the viewer in its serene beauty. Moreover, the artist often combines imagery from her travels to Italy, Spain and throughout Europe with memories of her childhood home in North Carolina. The artwork is framed in a silver wooden frame measuring 32 x 42 inches. Carol S. Pylant Girona Pause oil on panel 30h x 40w in Framed dimensions: 32h x 42w in CSP044 Resume Artist / Emeritus Professor, University of Wisconsin-Madison Education 1979 M.F.A. "Bagno Paradiso" Landscape, Impressionism, Beach
Located in Sag Harbor, NY
Painted en plein-air in Italy, "Bagno Paradiso" depicts a group of figures sitting beneath a striped umbrella. Nelson H. White was born in New London, Connecticut in 1932. White has been surrounded by art and artists from the time he was born. He received his earliest art instruction from his grandfather, Henry Cooke White (1861-1952) and his father Nelson Cooke White (1900-1989), both important American artists. The family lived in Waterford, Connecticut and the elder White had been an early member of the art colony in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Known for his paintings of the Connecticut landscape and shoreline, Henry Cooke White became a teacher to his son, Nelson Cooke White. Living with his parents at the Florence Griswold house in Old Lyme, he met some of the most important and influential artists of the day, Childe Hassam, Will Howe Foote and Harry Hoffman. Later, Nelson White's father began to take his family to summer on Shelter Island and became friendly with many of the artists of the Peconic colony such as Irving Wiles, an important American impressionist. After graduating from the Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts in 1951, Nelson H. White began to study at Mitchell College in Connecticut but left to pursue studies in the violin, musical theory and composition. At this time, he began to spend more time studying art with his father and grandfather. By 1955, Nelson H. White had decided to devote himself to a career as a painter and traveled to Florence, Italy to become an apprentice to Pietro Annigoni, the world-renowned Florentine master. Within two years, the young White had won two awards for his work. While in Florence he also studied with the great Italian teacher, Nerina Simi. Today, White divides his time between the United States and Florence. Although he has received instruction from some very important artists, White's work is highly individual. He paints with great spirit. Upon seeing his work one quickly senses White’s great love for nature and the outdoors. Through his eyes we are able to view and interpret nature in an intimate manner. Whether Nelson H. White is painting the Connecticut shore...

Measurements: 120 x 60 x 2 cm, Landscape View of the Retiro Park in Madrid (Spain) with a statue in the background The work has been carried out with an innovative technique, where the fluidized oil is transformed into an undulating wavy surface which is later outlined by the airbrush, the palette knife and the brush. (The artist frames almost all his paintings with a wooden strip between 0,5 and 1 cm. thick, which can be removed at will of the client). ABOUT THE ARTIST Ángel Luis Úbeda...
