Artist Commentary:
I started a series of paintings of places in the town I live in: Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. In many New England small towns, the most important buildings are the white protestant churches in the commons. In Shrewsbury, this church is called “the First Congregational Church”. So it made sense to start my painting collection with this church. My fellow painters told me that New England churches have been painted millions of times, and that it could be a boring subject. However, I was struck by the beauty in these churches. Coming from the French Loire Valley where winters are grey and rainy, I loved the crisp, blue sky of New England in winter and the way the church and the snow shared the same pearly white color. Compared to where I come from, churches are instead made of yellow ochre stone and snow is very rare. Overall, I just started to paint what was different for me. 'Quay by the Bridge in Paris', watercolour on art paper, by Roland Dubuc (circa 1970s-80s). The broad Parisian river Seine divides the city into the left and right banks. The Left Bank, or Rive Gauche is famous for the Latin Quarter while the Right Bank is better known for attractions like Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre, and the Louvre. A trip here simply isn’t complete without a stroll along this romantic river. And a cruise on the Seine or drinks aboard an anchored boat along the quay is a wonderful experience as well. The artist Dubuc created many artworks with the Seine as backdrop. You can have this one right in your living room. In good overall condition, the piece is newly framed and glazed with anti-reflective glass. Upon request a video of the painting may be provided.
About the Artist: Roland DuBuc (1924-1998), French artist, the sixth of 13 children and son of a construction worker. The very precariousness of the family's financial situation forced him to go to work at the age of 14. In extreme poverty, he moved to Rouen where he was lodged by the Salvation Army. Nii Kpetenkple Samuel is one of such gifted and talented Artist; Painting to me, is one of the eloquent media for expressing myself about all the corners of the world and all that it holds; Of course it is not by accident, that i went into Painting. Nii Kpetenkple was born and bred in a coastal town, a suburb of Accra called NUNGUA, it's only 10 miles away from Accra. I am now in my late twenties.
Nii Kpetenkple, had his training as an Artist at one of the secondary schools in Accra - Ghana. Later I had my tertiary training at Ultimate school of Art, (u.s.a) Ghana.
I enjoy sketching, swimming, reading and music that keeps me working always. My childhood experiences with fishermen in their fishing expedition, fish mongers, market women, local houses or structures and meaningful Ghanaian symbols with abstract figures made me one of the expert in that area.
As an Artist, art enables me to see nature as eternal, grasp a fragment of the Almighty's plan, even a bit of land scape, few pieces of fruits or a human form.
Throughout my period of contemplation and years of uninterrupted close contact with nature, vast truths flashed upon my mental horizon, to which i gave expression in my paintings.

The photo reference for this painting was of New England waters and the day I painted this it is was cold and rainy. I was looking for warmth, not 20 degree temps! I took out my set of pastels that remind me of warmer climates and painted this in that palette. Giovanni Martino, National Academy of Design* member, was born on May 1, 1908 in Philadelphia PA where all seven brothers and one sister, Filomina, Frank, Antonio, Albert, Ernest, Giovanni, Edmond, and William became painters. They were under the tutelage of their eldest brother, Frank, who in the late 1920s, founded the first commercial art* studio, Martino Studios, at 27 South 18th Street.
Besides studying with his two eldest brothers, Giovanni also studied with Albert Jean Adolph at La France Institute, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts*, The Graphic Sketch Club, and Spring Garden Institute in Philadelphia. In his mid teens he accompanied his two eldest brothers to New Hope searching for subjects to paint. In the 1930s, he also started to paint in Manayunk, a hilly mill town along the Schuylkill River. At this time he signed his paintings M. Giovanni.
These colorful impressionistic* works proceeded more thinly painted dramatically poetic street scenes of the mill town. These images developed into impasto* laden oils in the 1960's with some of the paintings worked with a palette knife*.
In Manayunk, he was a common sight on the streets and sidewalks, painting on-the-spot with his wife, Eva Marinelli and his two daughters, Nina & Babette. In the 1980's and 90's he also painted in Conshohocken and Norristown with his youngest daughter, Babette. His paintings became more sharply executed like his earlier work but were more colorful. In the late '90's he worked in his studio to enlarge paintings.
He is the recipient of over 100 awards and honors. He received the Benjamin Altman Prize in Landscape Painting in 1975 at the National Academy of Design, NYC where he was elected an Academician (NA) in 1944. He mentored not only his wife and two daughters but also taught at Lehigh University and the Graphic Sketch Club, Philadelphia.

Carol Bennett spends all of her time surrounded by water, and a great deal within it. Her work is a meditative journey through both the water and through life. Carol's work has been featured in many solo and group exhibits throughout California, New York, Martha's Vineyard and Hawaii including a 2007 solo show at the First Hawaiian Center at the Contemporary Museum of Art (Honolulu) and a 2018 group show "Making Waves" exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. Her work was seen alongside April Gornik, Agnes Martin, Kiki Smith, and Pat Steir. In 2019, she was also featured in exhibits at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, the Hawaii State Art Museum and a solo exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. She has been featured in Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Ocean Home Magazine and the New York Times. Carol's artwork has also been featured in Designer Showhouses in Westchester NY and the Hamptons, and is part of public and private collections around the world.

Fabio Coruzzi was born in Foggia, Italy in 1975, and now resides in Southern California, USA. Remarking on his work in conjunction with his perspective on urban environments, Fabio states: "I wish that each painting I make should be like a poem of the place where I've been. I wish to become a poet of our time, like somebody would tell: "I've been there", but telling that my way, telling the audience that, no matter where we are, in a boulevard or in a restaurant, each single place is like an empty box that needs to be filled with the intense energy of our existence. Each place leaves a mark, like a scar, inside us. I wish that scar becomes poetry."
Winner of the 2021 ENEGANART Prize, Coruzzi's work has been widely collected and exhibited internationally, with great acclaim for his faithfully candid approach to city life and human idiosyncrasy: "It’s a melting pot of different gestures, different perspectives. Mixed media mold together these different perspectives, creating the urban environment. Contemporary culture is made of controversy: modernity includes ugliness, imperfection, and contamination, anything that creates texture."
