About the Item
Samir Sammoun uses his signature post-impressionist style to recreate an evening walk through the Parisian streets. Bistros line the sidewalks, illuminated by the glow of the streetlights and the night sky. Short, curled brushstrokes reminiscent of Van Goh build up the atmosphere to give this painting a timeless feeling. Sammoun has painted on a linen canvas, which gives the piece a different base texture and colour than typical cotton canvas.
Painting is 36 x 36 inches unframed.
Samir Sammoun is a Lebanese-Canadian artist living in Montreal, Canada. His works have been featured in galleries worldwide and he is hung in the Presidential Palace in Beirut. He is in numerous public gallery's permanent collections and has a range of private and corporate collectors across the world.

Samir Sammoun
A master of the idyllic landscape, it comes as no surprise that Samir Sammoun grew up on a 1000 year-old olive grove plantation in the small, craggy village of Joun, Lebanon. Despite the size of the village, many of its residents are very well educated and Sammoun is no exception. While pursuing a formal secondary education, Sammoun began experimenting with oil paints and following graduation was accepted into the École des Arts et Métiers in the vibrant city of Beirut. Soon after finishing his post-secondary studies however, Sammoun felt the desire to further broaden his horizons and in 1973, he immigrated to Montreal where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in engineering followed by a master’s degree in telecommunications. He then began a successful career as a telecommunications engineer, obtaining several patents and eventually becoming Vice-President of the cable giant Videotron, but his love of art never left his mind. He continued painting regularly and while he was changing the world of cable, he also launched a career as a professional artist. Sammoun took the practice of his art seriously and it wasn’t long before people took notice of him as an artist, not just as an engineer. The President of Lebanon invited him as a special guest to the Presidential Palace in Beirut, where one of Sammoun’s paintings now hangs. That proved only to be the beginning for Sammoun. Since the inception of his artistic career, he has had solo exhibitions at the Musée des Beaux-arts (Montreal) and the Galerie d’Orsay (Boston), group exhibitions at Art Expo New York (1996-2013) and Art Expo Miami (2013), and was asked by the First Lady of New York if his work would be a part of the permanent collection at the Champlain Museum. He and his work also appear in several publications like Fine Art Magazine and in the archives of the National Library of Canada and the Bibliothèque Nationale du Québec. Although Sammoun’s work is much collected privately, his work is a part of many corporate and public collections as well. These include the collections at the Coca Cola Corporation Headquarters, IBM, Novartis Canada, the Government of Quebec, and many more. The European city and landscapes have the energy of a Van Gogh, the loveliness of a Monet, and a feel to them that is uniquely Samir Sammoun.

Textured Contemporary Abstract Painting 'Winter in the City I'
Located in Toronto, ON
Recycled industrial press ink lends Latour's work a saturation of colour and textural detail that is unique to the medium. Through careful manipulation he is able to craft paintings that have intricate coral-like surfaces. 'Winter in the City I' is the first of a pair of pieces that evoke the bustle of a city with the whiteout of a winter's day. This piece evokes David Milne's style of using white space to represent the season while Latour's signature colour saturation comes across in the bold orange and green accents through the piece.

A wonderful oil on canvas by Louis Hayet depicting figures in a cityscape at evening time. Signed and dated 1932 lower left.

Emilio Grau Sala came from a family of artists. He was born in Barcelona in 1911 and his father, a good cartoonist, had been one of the promoters of the "Salon des Humanistes" and made his exhibitions normally in the Parés Hall.
His first works were exhibited at the Salon des Independents, in the years 1930-33.
Grau Sala was essentially a Mediterranean painter, son of post-impressionism and enriched with French painting of the last fifty years.
In this work Grau Sala has a loose, subtle brushstroke, in which the color shapes the entire work. The bright and transparent whites that give life to young schoolgirls contrast with the brushstrokes of blacks from the nun who accompanies them. The explosion of greens is refreshing, it surrounds us and transports us to an idyllic place, even if it is a citizen boulevard, which becomes friendly and beautiful.
His works can be found in the Museums of the Villa de Paris, L'Ile de France Museum, at the Château de Sceaux, Honfleur Museum, La Rochelle Museum, Barcelona Museum, Tossa de Mar...

Paris Evening
By Robert McIntosh
Located in West Hollywood, CA
Presenting an magnificent just discovered original oil painting by American artist Robert McIntosh(1916-2010.)
"Paris Evening", is an original oil on panel, signed, dated 2003 with an image dimension of 8.25 x 10.25 inches, currently unframed.
A biography on the career of Robert McIntosh included below, please contact the gallery for additional information.
Robert McIntosh
(1916-2010)
Robert McIntosh was borth on March 11, 1916 near San Francisco, in Vallejo, California, the second son of Harry and Jesusita Coronado McIntosh. He found his lifelong passion for painting by the time he was ten years old and never swayed from his calling.
The family moved to Stockton when Robert was 12. Their home was just six blocks from the newly opened Haggin Museum, filled with a treasure trove of European and American paintings. He became particularly enamored with the fine examples of 19th century French pastoral landscapes. As teens, Robert and his brother Harrison befriended local painter Arthur Haddock who taught them the craft of art and brought them along on outdoor painting trips. Robert also became skilled at drawing portraits that captured the subject's personality. Soon, the sheer joy of expressing himself this way became a consuming interest.
When not sketching, McIntosh would wander the stacks of books at the public library, discovering and studying the Masters - in particular, Michelangelo, Rembrandt and Whistler. At a Gauguin exhibit at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, Robert discovered a "whole new world of color" and the importance of designing the space in the eternal rectangle. "I envision a frame around everything I see, "he admitted. "The artists' challenge is to put something meaningful, interesting or beautiful in that space."
In 1934 McIntosh won a competition for a scholarship to the Art Center School of Design, the first award they ever bestowed. The entire family moved to Los Angeles and a new vista...
