Original Hand Signed by Johnathan Ball Johnathan Ball has been working for more than 15 years to establish a style of painting that transforms the language of the street into a hybrid form of abstraction and urban realism. From the outset, JBall has sought to interpret his experience of cities that have served as crossroads in his life, from Toronto to New York to Miami the urban experience is a central theme in his work. Not always bound to one genre he also works from iconic images and film stills while purposefully engaging with the rich history of painting since the rise of abstraction in the 1950s. His work provides markers of time, engages the viewer with mood and line tracing the painting providing an artist lead tour of the work. JBall is also well known for his sculptural work. Sculpting anatomical forms using them as an entirely new canvas for his painting. His sculptures are an accent to his painted works, sometimes bringing levity. JBall is an active muralist working with community programs such as Toronto’s Street Art initiative, as well as private commissions. His notable patrons include The Mayor of Toronto, Universal Music, Blattner energy, and IMT Corporation. JBall (born Toronto, ON 1983) studied at York University, Toronto, where he received his Bachelors in Fine Arts degree, graduating with honors. 'le Aeroship' by Claude Venard is a beautiful chromatic, black, white, grey and blue painting of the Paris Skyline. Claude Venard is known for his vibrant, semi-abstract works that often-explored structure and colour, aviation was a fascination for Venard. Although, if we imagine ‘Le Aeroship’ within his creative world, it might symbolise freedom, innovation, and the power of human imagination. Venard’s bold use of geometry and texture in this piece could easily translate into a fantastical vision of air travel, with an aeroship designed not for practicality but as a work of art. Using his signature style and cubist influences, Venard used mechanics to create an aesthetic celebration of line, and form. Although he loved to use bright and bold colours, Venard also enjoyed painting with a very muted pallet, often using dark tones to capture a mood or moment in time. Siegfried Reinhardt "Surreal Landscape and the Artist with his American Underslung and Rolls Roys" 1948/50 Oil on Panel Signed and Dated Twice Lower Right Panel Size: approx. 11 x 24 inches Framed Size: approx. 13.5 x 26.5 inches Siegfried Gerhard Reinhardt born July 31, 1925 in Eydkuhnen, Germany, died October 24, 1984 in St. Louis, Missouri was a prolific artist and teacher based for most of his career, 1955-1970 at Washington University in St. Louis, where he had taken his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature in 1950. He was also a prominent member of the St. Louis Artists Guild. He was the son of Otto Frederick and Minni (Kukat) Reinhardt, and emigrated with them in 1928 (naturalized in 1936). His best-known work is perhaps the series of murals he executed at Lambert International Airport illustrating the history of aviation. He was a pioneer in combining elements of realism and surrealism in a style known sometimes as superrealism.
