Tian Wei was born in 1973 in Beijing, China. He presently lives and works in Beijng. He is a contemporary ink artist engaged by China National Academy of Painting. Since 2018, Tian has been an visiting professor of the Comprehensive painting language of Central Academy of Fine Arts .
In recent years, Tian devoted himself to the study of meditation of Zen. By “emptying his mind” of all extraneous thoughts during the process of painting, Tian nds the ideal mental state and becomes liberated from reality. He works in water-based media, By permeating with layer of ink stains and lines over and over, tian has developed his unique distinctive visual language and style. His experimental and expressive Chinese ink characterized by symmetricity, simplicity that expresse the rythme of the Nature and wisdom of Buddhism.
