About the Item

"Amongst Aspens" by Tiffany Williams is an original impressionist oil painting on panel, depicting a woman posing against an aspen tree at late afternoon in an aspen forest. This piece measures at 14 x 6.5 inches, and is framed at 17.5 x 10.25 inches. Artist Biography: I'm a lifelong artist who finds joy in the diverse realms of creativity, from sculpting with clay and painting in various mediums to pouring concrete and resin. Originally from Wisconsin, I now live just outside of Chicago, where I continue to immerse myself in the natural world that has always inspired me. Nature has been a constant source of wonder and influence in my life. I often find myself barefoot, feeling the grounding connection to the Earth that fuels my artistic practice. My love for the outdoors is mirrored in the themes of my work, which frequently explore flowers and landscapes through an expressionistic and impressionistic style. These subjects often evoke memories of my childhood and feelings of peacefulness, allowing me to convey a sense of calm and familiarity in my art. As someone who is autistic, my art serves as a creative escape from the literal interpretations that can otherwise dominate my perception. The unique experience of chromesthesia further enriches my work, allowing me to see and depict colors in a way that is deeply personal and vibrant. Through my paintings, I strive to evoke the sensory experiences of nature, inviting viewers to feel the breeze, smell the flowers, and immerse themselves in the scenes I create. I share my life with my supportive partner, a beloved horse, and two spirited chihuahuas who bring joy and entertainment to my days. Recently married, I'm excited about the new chapter of my life and how it will influence my artistic journey. Art is not just a practice for me but a way of life, a means to explore colors, create depth, and express emotions. Each piece I create is a reflection of my inner world and the beauty I find in the environment around me.

"Spring Aspen, " Oil Painting
By Stephen Day
Located in Denver, CO
Stephen Day's (US based) "Spring Aspen" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a forest of Pine and Aspen trees coming to life with new green buds of leaves and the thicket of the forest floor beginning to grow. Stephen Day was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, and, while growing up he lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Aspen Colorado, and Durango, Colorado. He always felt the wonderfully unique beauty of the west but until he became an artist he really didn't know how to fully respond to that beauty. Day is now a full-time artist living in Taos, New Mexico. Working mainly in oil he paints various subjects from life but the landscape is his first love. He says of his working philosophy, "I paint almost exclusively from life trying to capture the feeling and the mood of the subject before me. This work philosophy forces me to paint quickly to get a spontaneous and fresh response, because everything around us (including ourselves) is in a constant state of change." Day frequently paints on location and uses these smaller paintings to create larger studio paintings. Artist's Background: 1976 - Bachelor of Arts Degree, McMurry College, Abilene, Texas 1980 - Master's Degree, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas Studied at the Art Students League of Denver with Bruce Cody...

Aspen Grove, Oil Painting
By Teresa Smith
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
Artist Teresa Smith displays a picturesque impressionist landscape of Aspen groves. "Autumn is here," declares Teresa. The leaves slowly turn a crisp, bright yellow. The sunny fall day along the shoreline brings inspiration from its vivid colors.

About the Artist
Teresa Smith captures the soul of the west coast landscape in her contemplative oil paintings. Teresa gathers impressions of the land around her remote island home on horseback rides accompanied by her Irish wolfhound. Her works capture the light coming through the trees, a richness of color, and the interconnectedness of nature. Her subjects emerge through lyrical brushwork, sometimes with light streaming as if through a stained glass window. Her major influences are Georgia O’Keeffe, Emily Carr, and the Canadian Group of Seven, the latter of whom pioneered a distinctive style defined by a direct connection with nature. In addition to painting, Teresa is a master gardener, and she grows food year-round in her garden and volunteers in the community to educate and diagnose plant problems. She works from her studio on the top floor of a barn overlooking the pond and trees, where deer walk by and ducks swim. According to Teresa, "much of today’s art is based on concept. That is, the artist has an idea, then uses their art to educate and inform. I do contemplative painting, which is different. For me, it is allowing the painting to unfold in a contemplative or meditative way."
