Carlson uses subtle cool vs warm strokes of color and some texture in the foreground to help create a sense of depth in this beautiful little autumn painting. Comes unsigned but with estate stamp and Vose Galleries label verso. Also a Swains Art Store label from Plainfield, NJ where his wife Margaret Carlson was from. The Carlson family immigrated to the United States in 1884, making their home in Buffalo, New York. Carlson attended evening art classes at the Art Students League of Buffalo, New York.
