“Rest in The Tavern”, 19th Century Oil on Wood Panel by Francisco Domingo
Located in Madrid, ES
FRANCISCO DOMINGO MARQUÉS Spain, 1842 - 1920 REST IN THE TAVERN signed, located & dated “Domingo / PARIS / 1890” (lower left) oil on wood panel 9-1/2 x 10-1/4 inches (24 x 26 cm.) Francisco Domingo Marqués was a Spanish painter born in Valencia in 1842. He was a self-taught artist who began his career as a decorative painter before turning to portraiture, genre scenes, and landscapes. Marqués gained recognition for his realistic depictions of everyday life and his ability to capture the essence of his subjects. In 1864, Marqués moved to Madrid and joined the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, where he studied under Federico de Madrazo. He quickly became a prominent member of the Madrid art scene and exhibited his works at numerous prestigious exhibitions, including the National Exhibition of Fine Arts and the Paris Salon. Marqués was known for his use of vibrant colors and his masterful handling of light and shadow. He painted a wide range of subjects, including religious scenes, still lifes, and landscapes, but he is perhaps best known for his portraits of Spanish royalty...

17th c. Flemish, Still life with birds and raisins, workshop of Frans Snyders
Located in PARIS, FR
STILL LIFE WITH BIRDS AND RAISINS, WORKSHOP OF FRANS SNYDERS (1579-1657) An exquisite and attractive work, our painting with its rich and harmonious composition is one of the remarkable examples of the passion of art lovers of the 17th century for still lifes, the genre in full ferment in Antwerp in early 17th century, long before its arrival to Paris in the 1630s & 40s. Our painting presents on an entablature covered with wine-colored velvet cloth, various objects in an artistic arrangement which is intended to be spontaneous. The tight framing, like an extract and the piled up objects suggest a plenitude and an infinite richness of what nature can offer and reinforce the feeling of prosperity. The wicker basket overflowing with translucent bunches of grapes in green and purplish hues with icy reflections dominates the right side of the painting. In the center is the game birds, partridge, snipe, sparrow, pincon and others, each bird with a fine and precise design, transparent plumage, the meticulous rendering of the different beak or leg parts, zebrures and streaks of the down. On the left, two stacked white and blue Chinese...

Captivating "Kingdons" William Shields' Masterpiece of Modern Abstract Art
Located in Arp, TX
William Stephens Shields, Jr., 1925 - 2010 "Kingdoms" 1993 Oil on panel 48"x48" artist framed Signed in paint lower left William Stephens Shields, Jr., 1925 - 2010 He was born in san Francisco, in 1931, Bill moved to Texas, where he grew up. Moved to New York in 1940 and later joined the Naval Air Corps at the age of 18. He served as an Aviation Cadet in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945. At the end of WWII, Bill returned to Texas. At 21, Bill re-focused his energy and enrolled in the Chicago Academy of Fine Art as an Illustration major. What followed was a whirlwind of success, great friendships and a sense of belonging he had never before experienced. Art was his calling and the art-world could not have been less prepared for the likes of Bill Shields. He took them by storm, first Houston, then San Francisco, followed by New York in the late 60's. For 35 years, Bill produced some of the country's best illustrations: fresh, playful, loose and innovative. His illustrations were coveted by such clients as Bantam Books, Time Life, MacMillan Publishing Co., and were awarded numerous gold medals by the Societies of Illustrators in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and the Houston Artists Guild. Later, following inspirational trips to Mexico and France, Bill shifted his attention to the self-directed world of fine art. After years of sculpting, making assemblages, painting nudes and landscapes, he settled on the exploration of large abstract oil paintings. His paintings have been exhibited in galleries in San Francisco, Connecticut and New York. Thee girl in the old House - 21st Century Contemporary Oil Painting of a girl
Located in Nuenen, Noord Brabant
Marten Huitsing The girl in the old house 70 x 45 cm ( frame is include, with frame the size is 80 x 55 cm) Oil on wood panel The paintings of this artist have been part of the collection of Galerie Bonnard since his graduation (2010) at the Classical Academy of Groningen. Huitsing has quickly become successful, his style, craftsmanship and choice of subject appeals to many people. Yet Marten, he says, does not want to repeat himself. He is always looking for the way of painting that suits him at that moment. The sympathetic artist got national fame because he beautifully portrayed a famous Dutch TV presentator Mart Smeets in the 'Paint the stars' program. Honest, very recognizable and with a narrative painting. Mart Smeets was overwhelmed, praising his comments. Rightly so! From that moment. Marten Huitsing's work has gained increasing popularity, he is an annually returning artist at the renowned PAN and he can hardly cope with the demand for new work. The work that the artist has made for our gallery that there is always a balanced composition. In the collection there is one painting that is directly an ode to an older master, both often with Marten Huitsing. He did that before. In this case an ode to the French painter William Bougeureau...

Le Foldingue Tempera on Panel Painting Crazy Surreel In Stock

Le Foldingue Tempera on Panel Painting Crazy Surreel In Stock. Sizes including frame. Gérard Willemenot was born on February 11, 1943 in Paris, France The World War and the deportation of his father to Mauthausen will strongly mark his childhood. He is the eldest son of a family of nine children. Very early in conflict with the national education system, he studied art, graduated as a decorator from the Applied Arts and then became a DPLG Architect and Urban Planner, jobs that he mistakenly exercised for twenty-five years! His childhood and his years of architecture will make him a chronic misfit who hardly likes his time. Unable to remake the world, he will paint it in his own way, offbeat and timeless. Willemenot does not like so-called contemporary painting, which he considers an institutional hoax. Willemenot's painting is simple. This is so-called “tempera” paint (which he makes himself). This technique, endangered, will be cooked with an immoderate love for the Middle Ages and its mysticism, to which should be added the influence of a few great elders such as Jérôme Bosch, Breughel or Patinir, but also that of contemporary painters such as Albert Drachkovitch or Jacques Poirier...

Located in Phoenix, AZ
acrylic on canvas, over concave wood panel Andy Moses is interested in pushing the physical properties of paint. Through chemical reactions, viscosity interference, and gravity dispersion, Moses creates elaborate compositions that mimic nature and its forces. DESERT LIGHT is a body of work that responds to the sense of infinite space that drifts in on California's ocean breezes and across the Southwest's vast, desert expanses. Light and space naturally elongate in these geographies and Moses channels this time warp through both material and process. Born in Los Angeles in 1962, Moses attended California Institute of the Arts...

Wild Geranium Two, Botanical Painting Black Panel, Gold Flowers, Leaves, Stem
Located in Kent, CT
This delicate botanical drawing is made with gold acrylic on cradled panel, painted black. The exploration of ephemerality, and the fragility of a wild geranium, its leaves, flowers and buds are the focus of this painting by Margot Glass. The exquisite beauty of the flower is discovered and elevated through close examination and exquisite drawing by the artist. Initialed, signed, dated and titled on verso. This series is the result of the artist's wildflower research conducted while hiking along the Pacific coast. Working on a dark ground allows the gleam and luster and delicate reflective silver and gold properties of the metallic medium to present as high tones against the black ground. Glass is interested in the tradition of using nature as idealized ornament in art and design while seeking to observe and represent these plants as accurately as possible in all their irregularity and imperfection. The metallic lines enhance the decorative qualities of the filigree patterns formed by the seed heads and leaf veining. Her compositions are tightly cropped to bring the subject as close to the edge of the picture plane as possible. Margot Glass’s work been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally. Glass’s education includes studies in the Brown/RISD Exchange Program, Brown University...
