About the Item
'Battle Shoes ' still life painting of a pair of women's heels by California artist Kim Frohsin, who employs mixed media including acrylic paint, Stabilo pencil, watercolor, gouache, ink and, dry pigment on paper in beautiful grey tones from pale to black. The painting is 13 x 11 inches and it is beautifully framed in museum quality contemporary white maple hardwood, with all archival materials and matting. Outer dimension of the frame is: 18 1/2 x 16 inches. The work conveys a simple pair of shoes in a new and unique way by Frohsin who is a master draftsman and painter. Clear influences of Wayne Thiebaud, Richard Diebenkorn and David Park in this wonderful still life painting of a pair of women's heels. Painted in 2018. Artist signed, dated and titled Verso. Condition excellent.
Frohsin’s work is held by the San Jose Museum of Art, the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, the Office of the Governor, State Capital, Sacramento, and the United States Department of State. Her work is also in numerous corporate and private collections, among them the Morgan Flagg Family Collection, Buck Fine Arts, Adobe Systems, Inc Neiman Marcus and the Gap, Inc. Frohsin began exhibiting in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1990s, and in 1993 was included with Nathan Olivera, Manuel Neri and Stephen De Staebler in an exhibit of "Four Figures from the Bay." With Wayne Thiebaud as the juror, she won the California Society of Printmakers' Award in 1996, and the following year exhibited at the de Young Museum in San Francisco in "Bay Area Art: The Morgan Flagg Collection."

Kim Frohsin
Kim Frohsin, Third generation Bay Area Figurative artist is at home with a variety of media, including painting, drawing, monoprints, mixed media and collage. Her subjects include the female figure, cityscape, iconic Coke-Work, Portraits of Numbers, and other objects that attract her attention and which are most often autobiographical in nature. Frohsin began exhibiting in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1990s, and in 1993 was included with Nathan Olivera, Manuel Neri and Stephen De Staebler in an exhibit of 'Four Figures from the Bay.' With Wayne Thiebaud as the juror, she won the California Society of Printmakers' Award in 1996, and the following year exhibited at the de Young Museum in San Francisco in "Bay Area Art: The Morgan Flagg Collection.
